I just found and watched the show a few weeks ago. I think it's very underrated, most people apparently have not heard of or forgot about it. I really wish it would get a comeback as it is around the show's 20th anniversary and think it deserves a second season.

Its wide range of car selection just wow me as a kid, I mean five-hundreds of playable cars, what game manage to do that back then. It has a stylish UI to show off cars too, I can spend hours picking which car I want to buy. My first favorite car is the Lotus Elipse series which I learn from the game, and even since my preference of car is the one built similarly like that (like Audi R8 for example).
Yep, Audi R8 is based on the Quattro system, which explains the nimble handling.

Same with some other cars like Lotus Elise, Ford GT and Mercedes Benz 190E.

I'm just waiting for someone to sell me the PS3 with Gran Turismo 5 and 6 at an affordable price.

    Wow, these rules though.

So "if" is an effect that can happen while in a chain while "when" is an effect that will be resolved last in the chain.

I miss Dandylion now more than ever. Welp.

I am by no means a competitive player, in fact, I've never played irl and never will, but you can understand how a card works if you read its text correctly... most of the time. But I do understand it's hard for some people to remember all those rules (mandatory effects, optional effects, effects that target, effects that don't), specially if they're new to the game.

If you like to play fusion, synchro, xyz or pendulum based deck, you're now forced to play link in order to get more zones to summon extra deck monsters. MR4 shits on pendulum decks the most since if they go to the extra deck, you can no longer go +5 if there's no available zone. Funny how one of the best decks right now is a pendulum one uh

I think Master rule 4 (Link format) was designed to slow down the game and make unbreakable boards harder to pull off but I guess they didn't realise how powerful Links can be. Generic link monsters are both a blessing and a problem. They are decent in their respective archetype but are easily abusable in more powerful decks (needlefiber being the best example). Also the fact that we can use tokens as link materials make cards like scapegoat way more powerful that they were before.

For starters, Link Monsters function as effect monsters, but the only difference is that they have no levels and can only be summoned in attack position.

As I have explained earlier, their summoning is as simple as tribute or ritual summoning, with it leaning on the former since you don't require levels to summon it.

Once I figured out how they are summoned, it opened a way for me to do even more unlikely but effective strategies in game plays.

For one, I use the effects of links on monsters from the main deck.

I think this is why we must have a neutral expert on rules (at least 3 of them) regarding the resolution of effects of cards so that they'll not scream profanities of the player being unfair. Chess players have one and I don't see an excuse as of why they can't put up one with these games too.

If I remember correctly, in tournaments like these, Magic also had arbiters of the game whenever these cases come up.

I built a Madolche deck a few years back and I can testify to how hilarious it can be.

Hence the reason why I modified the deck to play both strategies and be successful with it.

Well, it's not accurate to say it's a reason, but it's more of a necessity if ever I encounter someone new to this game or someone who enjoys the good old days of the game. And for added bonus, I didn't expect links to cater to my game play too.

In all honesty, I didn't know how much I modified Aki Izayoi's deck, but I succeeded in making it and flabbergasting my opponents by using it.

Will do my deck list here if I have the time. I have decks on both Dueling Book and Dueling Nexus.

Can't say that it's a balanced deck, but it's a deck designed for nostalgic game play, links game play without link monsters and synchro/xyz era game play.

I guess I can call it the "plumb line deck". It caters more to people who like puzzles in game play.

Well, it's up to us how we can make the game really interesting though. Old school doesn't mean that it's not effective anymore.

Even with all the new mechanics, I still surprise many players with unconventional but effective strategies to betray their expectations.

One thing I noticed is that they're too used to meta cards that one card like Dividing Wall (which reduces all monsters' ATK by 800 for each monster they have on the field if and only if they declare an attack. When 5 monsters are on their field, that reduces their attack by 4000) sets their buttons off.

They're too used to Mirror Force cards and its variants that they don't see the other cards that can indirectly function as a detriment to their attacks.

Then I transitioned to Elemental Hero deck, which I still have in my locker and then Synchro happened. Imho, this is the most fun era of Yugioh for me. Because while Synchro bring new option to the table and quite easy to summon, it is still relatively took time to be seted up.

Then Xyz happened and I started to feel the meta is not fun anymore. Pendulum is the last straw that make me quit the game and Link summoning is far worse from what I have heard. Nowadays is all about that one ultra powerful deck with that specific play style, every match feels the same.
The news though is that the link summoning killed the Extra Deck for those who favor summons from the main deck, placing various options for those concentrated on summoning strong monsters from the main deck.

Just recently, I tried Bishbalkin, a level 12 synchro monster.

    http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Phantas...tl_Bishbaalkin

Effects are almost complicated if you don't know how to synchro summon fast.

My fail-safe strategy is Copy Plant + Any Level 8 Plant Monster. My opponents are flabbergasted when I did this strategy, citing it as one of the fastest summons that they had ever seen in their life (before quitting of course). Same with Star Eater, going with either Copy Plant + Any monster, Witch of the Black Rose + Any level 7 monster or Twilight Rose Knight + Any level 8 monster.

And recently, fusing two Evil Thorns with Polymerization nets me this monster:

Plant summons really scare me to no end. At first I dismiss it as a worthless archetype. But now, my creativity with her deck combined with my crush with Aki Izayoi, I now see it as a formidable deck that can adapt to any situation save for Gravekeepers and Banish strategy decks.
