The people who really hated Other M… really hated Other M. It wasn't nearly as bad as my exaggeration there, but it was still incredibly unpleasant to listen to. Kinda like… actually, wait, no, exactly like hearing a fan of a certain franchise ranting about one aspect of that franchise being some sort of personal attack against the fan community, like the creators were somehow indebted to the fans and had refused to pay up. Which is of course, ridiculous, and mind-bogglingly selfish. Other M wasn't up to the standards of the previous Metroid games, so the fans tore it apart, making it out to be much worse than it actually was out of self-righteous resentment.

for Xehanort as a young man, watch Dream Drop Distance. That representation of him isn't entirely accurate, as he wasn't fascinated by darkness at that point. He's also a native of Destiny Islands; the kid Riku talks about at the beginning of the first game, the one who left the islands for good, was him.
there's also going to be some more info on him in 2.8 (wait until they announce 2.9…) and the Xehanort Reports in Birth By Sleep.

What you've just implied is that not only am I an attention seeker, but that I've specifically tailored my entire personality to that end, because what you're criticizing me for, is my actual personality! Those who hated it with a passion though… well, their rage has long since driven them insane, and they now stalk the online forums searching for any posts about Other M that don't condemn it to destruction and everyone involved in making it to a gruesome demise. And upon seeing something nonviolent about their craven nemesis, they immediately attempt to destroy that website by creating thirty troll accounts from different computers and ruining everything for everyone. And though you may know me to revel in my own absurdity, I actually knew a guy who did exactly that. We never got along. He was almost as annoying in person as he was online, that is to say, being around him was like trying to get thirty assholes to shut the hell up.

I'm 100% sure that I aim to retell all of Kingdom Hearts... up to the end of 3, that is. I mean, it'd be a fun challenge to completely remake the whole thing in RPG Maker MV. Besides which, I would have to do some extra studying on the topic of Xehanort to get an idea as to what he was like as a younger person (should I go with your idea), so... no dice on that.

Anyway, I'd be inclined to take on whatever help I can get, at least in the art and sounds departments. Do you know anyone who does 2D art for RPG Maker MV that can recreate the characters of Kingdom Hearts?

A retelling of all of Kingdom Hearts?! That sounds dreadfully difficult. You sure you don't want to try something like the journeys of Xehanort as a young man? Or Kairi's Keyblade training? Those would likely be easier. And you wouldn't have to make different stats.

That said, you'd need to make up original stories for them, and you'd need to have Axel/Lea around for at least half of one of them. Though that's a good thing.

I'll admit though, a raccoon in the walls isn't nearly as bad as a tropical storm, and I hope the rain stops sooner rather than later.

At present? I'm creating them on my own in RPG Maker MV. As for the series' used... well, one of them is a retelling of the entirety of Kingdom Hearts, another is a retelling of a fanfic that I have a hand in by the FFN user 117Jorn called Across the Galaxy (that's the fanfic's name)... and so on and so forth.

Anyway, I'm looking into ways to change the gameplay mechanics, even going as far as trying to mess with what stats are available to the player to see. So far... no dice.
