Stop arousing me with thoughts of stupid, sexy Crispin Freeman invoking Unlimited Blade Works. It does me no good!
Using the Shroud of Turin as a catalyst, you summon Heroic Spirit Jesus Christ and then use a command seal to force him into stopping the end of the world as we know it. Problem solved!
Oh gods yes
Archer: Your ability to conceptualize the basic framework is weak! Shirou: C-Crispin Freeman, get out of my Reality Marble! Shirou: Where's Tohsaka?! Archer: I think she went to the waffle house. Shirou and Saber: What? Archer: I'm gonna have my way with the both of you, and then I'm gonna do the dog. (Lancer: DON'T CALL ME A DOG!)
Ah, Crispin Freeman and Yuri Lowenthal. Good times. Same for Higgins and Pierce.
Shirou sounded like he was approaching middle age. Archer sounded like he had a perpetual frog in his throat (though all of Liam O'brien's rolls sound like that). Sakura was a Tachikoma. I also think that a lot of the direction was just not well done, that the actors were clearly fumbling around not understanding what was going on well enough. That's actually one of my major problems with BZ! dubs in general in that oftentimes, because they're a third party rather than an in-house studio like Funimation or (once upon a time) ADV kept, you can get directors that don't really have a passion for the material. Not all of them are like that, obviously, but they seem to suffer from it a lot more compared to said companies. Saber and Kotomine's voices were just about the only ones I was alright with, probably because Kate Higgins has about the same vocal range Kawasumi does. Jamieson Pierce also has done Jouji Nakata roles before, and done them well (see: Code Geass) so I don't particularly have a problem there either. Rin and Illya's were borderline to me, like...I'm alright with them, but I bet either the actors could've been given better direction, or they could have done better just finding a slightly better voice. Some of the voice stuff I'd go with probably would sound like a predictable choice, though, but I know that for Shirou and Archer, I'd go with Yuri Lowenthal and Crispin Freeman, specifically because A) they've done the whole "I hate future me" thing before in Noein and B) they tend to be good in those young hero-older antihero roles. Yuri also voices Sasuke Uchiha on Naruto and does so well imo, and in Japanese Sasuke shares seiyuu with Shirou. Also the potential for hilarious outtakes like in Noein pleases me to no end.
Aw. I rather liked the English FSN cast. .... Most of 'em. Saber and Rin were pretty okay, I thought.
Who would you say was miscast, and who would you recast if possible? If I could get away with it, I'd have everyone voiced by Peter Cullen. Probably. >_>
They're going for a dub by Bang Zoom! again, so it's fairly likely the original cast will be returning. Sorry.
*puppy dog eyes*
Mm...this reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what. Oh wait. Now I do! Write, Arashi! Please
