I create a world of finite somethings

If someone were to rob me, it'd be really easy to track down my stuff

So, full story. My mom is a sixty-three year old widow that lives alone. To counter the idea that she'd be an easy robbery target, she has a huge great dane that could probably eat my leg in one bite. The problem is she is an entirely set-in-her-ways person that regularly gets up early in the morning and walks the dog pretty much at the exact same time, so, if anyone were casing her place, it'd be easy to figure out when to do so. And apparently some people were. Fortunately, a lot of things were in her favor: people in the neighborhood had spotted these guys loitering around before and had called the police, so there was a patrolman actually in the vicinity when my mom went for her walk--one she passed during her walk. She got back to find that someone had broke in through her bedroom window, taken her jewelry box, cash she had on her dresser, her ebook reader, laptop, the big screen tv, wii, and a bunch of games. As her walk is only about half an hour long, though, she clearly got in fairly soon after they left--her arrival might have even been what caused them to ditch. The tv was even too big for them and they left it in the park behind her house.

She flagged down the police that had been wandering the area and they said they'd been looking for those exact guys, as there was a couple of other robberies nearby, though nothing on the level of this. After thinking about where they could go, the officer knew of a place across the train tracks that a bunch of squatters were known to inhabit. My mom lives close to the edge of a lake, and one of the ways across is a levy with a train track atop it--and sure enough, they just wandered over to a vantage point and saw the guys hauling down the track. So the police set up on either side and closed in on them. One tried to run; apparently, though, Moses Lake PD has a former Army Ranger in their ranks. Hah.

So, anyway, they have them, and because of the amount they took, the guys will be pretty bad off on sentencing. Meanwhile, my mom was a little upset, thus I spent time over there as she arranged to have a security system installed. She has everything back, though, so other than the couple days inconvenience and being rattled, no harm.

Meanwhile, SAO has me on a kick writing other stuff and MMO happy, so it might be another week before I get the next Nasu-related thing out. Maybe. I dunno. Kohaku romance has me in an oddly anxious mood, like, I feel like I really need to be delicate. Probably because her route was my favorite in the vn.

Wow, that's some nice live action. Great that it's over with no casualties.

Harsh. My house has no security alarm system and I live in a neighborhood that is bad (though, not as bad as 11 years ago). Glad she got her stuff back though.

    Ouch. Just reading this now.

If you can't get her house hardened against break-ins (all low level windows too small to fit through/protected in some way, reinforced doors/doorframes, solid exterior walls), buy her a shotgun.

No, you're talking to a farmboy. We have guns. It isn't the when-she's-there part that we're at all concerned about--even without the guns, there's the great dane. We're concerned about the when-she's-not-there part.
