Protip: If you hotlink a pic you just saw, you will always see it, even if others can't, because your browser already loaded it.

The problem is, he can't tell if it doesn't show. Nobody can. Browser hijinks, unless you clear your cache every time you host a picture.

Not for him it didn't. The image is already in his cache, so he doesn't see the "no hotlinking" image.

The problem is that a) some sites do allow hotlinking and b) using imgur or the like is annoying (and usually less permanent).

I just always assume that the sites don't allow hotlinking. Lately it seems like 90% of the websites I hotlink from don't allow it.
