It's because the camera looks to be a point and shoot and it's dusk outside. They're not really designed well for that. For the best results, force the flash off and make sure the camera is steady or on a tripod when the picture is taken. The shutter speed will be very slow and it'll be blurry if there's even the slightest of movements.

It should do better in higher light situations, though.

I'm pretty sure the camera's supposed to be decent. Or, at least, it was when I last used it. For reference (though the light is different), here's a picture that I took two years ago with it:

But now, when it used to do 1200 x 600 shots and such, it's just 640 x 480, and I'm not sure why.

That's actually about right. The example pic you showed has enough light for it to operate correctly. In low light, it's going to do exactly as you pictured unless you force the flash off. It's not a bad camera, it's just the way they work in low light. As for the resolution, if you go into the menu, there should be a quality (Or something similar) option where you can change the resolution.

Also, that's a pretty badass costume. Thrift Store cosplay wins again!

Also, the Thompson Contender and cigarette pack will probably be done sometime this weekend. My friend and I started on the Contender today, but tomorrow we'll get to finishing it. The picture up there is of it in its unfinished, current state.

(Funny thing, the long coat was actually found in the women's clothing section, lol)

Which con are you going to?

I'm going to Anime Revolution, in Vancouver. Just a week until it happens, too. Naturally, I'll be taking plenty of pictures. I'm pretty sure I'll be recognized, and I'll even go in this costume to get an autograph from Jouji Nakata!

The picture you've got there is a bit off. I used a mix of concept arts, anime screencaps and official art for this, and in those there are a few differences: namely, the coat goes down to ankle height, there's more of Kerry's chest showing, and also the pistol (as in real life) has a thickness of roughly two times the width of the barrel, whereas in that less-detailed figure the pistol is three barrels in width.
