Eid Mubarak! We didn't do anything special, but the usual - pulao and a huge pot of samay. We'll probably end up visiting family at a later date though.

Thanks guys, I love wearing traditional clothes( at special occasions) I even wore some to my prom last year.

I lived with a Muslim once who sort-of followed it (as in he'd avoid eating if he didn't feel particularly hungry...). He drank alcohol but didn't eat pork.

I mean, I do that sort of thing with Christian festivals (I'll happily eat pancakes on Pancake day and Easter eggs at Easter, but there's no way in hell I'm going to give anything up for lent), and I doubt that Islam is particularly different in that respect (although I guess you have fewer open athiests/agnostics who still follow some of the traditions, since it's not part of the culture here in the same way as Christianity is).

That's the same way I feel, I like celebrating the special occasions, and ocasionaly pray, but once I move out Im probably never gonna fast lol.

Your right on about the open agnostic/atheist, usually you do find family that arn't that religious but even then if a member out right stated that he didn't believe in God, or in my case didn't believe in God exactly as written in the Quran, then it would most likely cause a big rift between them.

My big brother actually went out and said he doesn't beileve in God, my parents were pretty upset for a while, but in the end I think they accepted it (he had moved out so not like they had a choice).
