Post-Zombie Run

Rate this Entry
Run For Your Lives was pretty damn awesome. I did mention there are obstacles besides the zombies? Electric shocks and mud potholes SUCK!

7 Atlusians entered, 2 returned alive. I died. I like to think I made a great meat shield!

I know some people asked, but I'm not really comfortable posting identifying photos of us, especially since I'm the only one that ended up wearing the Catherine stuff. I'll think about it.

I also made a new friend in our group - a developer at Obsidian Entertainment! He was happy to learn that I was one of the few people who actually liked Alpha Protocol and paid more than $3 for it. But more surprisingly, he enjoys visual novels and is a honking huge Type-Moon fan! I sort of feel guilty for blabbing with him for 2 hours straight about F/SN and Zero during the car ride home, and nobody else knew what we were talking about.

Dude why didn't you ask him to join the forum. It would be nice to have a guy from Obsidian around here and an Atlusian in our ranks

You already have one, hurr durr

And the reason I can get away with even mentioning this at all is because this place doesn't get a ton of traffic like Reddit. Attention is bad.

Oooh, Obsidian dev? Was the the one who worked on AP?

Yeah he was one of the people that worked on AP. He's on the South Park RPG at the moment, I believe.

Sorry, didn't mean to be condescending.

You liked Alpha Protocol? me too. I only played it once but I had it on preorder for a long time before that, while a little clunky it was quite enjoyable and the idea was one that merits a little more exploring than just one game, we need more spy games in general that aren't just trying to catch Goldeneye's thunder.

That reminds me... someone needs to bring back Cate Archer and NOLF back to the spotlight, those games were awesome.

I really liked AP! It had a lot of mechanical flaws that were obvious signs of a rushed release (poor QA). However, the dialogue/story and the sheer novelty of a spy RPG were just great IMO. I wish the development hadn't been so troubled. It could have been an award-winning game if the action part of it was more polished.

Instead it was unfavorably compared to Mass Effect 2. Even though it was better in several ways. Argh.

I actually own Alpha Protocol (and I think I paid $10 for it), but I've yet to play it.

It, like a shitton of other games, are on my Steam list.

I agree on all points, it needed to be on QA for a lot longer (IIRC there's a boss that's a bitch to kill unless you specialize in shotguns, who the hell is gonna do that in a spy game) I also liked the dialogue and the whole "three B's" idea they had going was simply genius in my opinion. Am also looking forward to that south park RPG, I looked at the first few trailers thinking "ok when are they gonna show the gameplay" and then it hit me... that was gameplay, they made it look as crappy as the cartoon looks like today.

    Also, Roadbuster. *brofist*

Chain Shot broke everything. A skill that destroys bosses and rooms full of enemies? Yeesh.

On my inital playthrough, I never really ended up exploiting this skill as much as I should have, even though I went for a mostly non-lethal playthrough. Maybe until the final battle with Darcy (your "partner", where I raged till I used that and the Xbox's re-gen shield gitch (sadly, I discovered the sniper rifle that I was suppose to use after the battle)

I'm one of those people who loved Alpha Protocol. Got it new when Gamestop put it on sale at 40 dollars right after it came out.
It's rough around the edges, but very awesome, and waiting till they make AP2.

Anyway, sounds like you had a ton of fun.

    Don't hold your breath.

Not insider information or anything. It's no secret that Sega, who owns the IP, considered AP a failure, and I've read that the development was... troubled.
