Winning at... Winning?

Well, some poor deity decided to smile on me for once.
Started a 3-person tenhou match, and each of the three hands I was dealt during that match was......damn nice, let's say. As in, 'I fuck it up and I should probably just quit mahjong forever' type of nice. Fortunately, I made use of my bout of good luck and managed to grab first place in that match.
First hand, I've got a series of winds and a decent batch of sou's with a pair of pins left as the odd ones out. Got rid of em', completed the hand decently with a tsumo. Could have waited for a better hand to riichi with, but I'm still working on my riichi trigger-finger (a bit too eager, I am). Needed a 5 or 8 sou to complete this one. Got the 5.
Second hand, more sou's, a few mans, and more winds. Made a set out of the mans and finished up the set of sou's I'd been dealt. Ronned a wind off of North to complete this one. Once again, I still need to learn a bit of patience when going for riichi. Needed either a 3 sou or a wind(I forget which) to complete this hand. Got it with the wind.
Third hand, I'm wondering where the asskicking I usually get has gone to, and my hand is once again mostly sou's and pins. Not so many winds this time though. And a pair of 9-man on the end. A bit of creative shuffling/swapping of tiles and I've got what I need for riichi. Went for riichi needing either a 3 or 6 sou to complete it. Not great, but better than needing a single tile.
Swapped a wind for a new tile and there's the 6 I needed. Tsumo.

And with that, I'm off to play some more.
