It wasn't 34ºC, I can ensure that. It was HOT like hell, even my thermometer here at my room was 47ºc as soon as I arrived home, and it wasn't under the sun, of course.
Also, the news at the TV said the thermal sensation yesterday was about 50ºC. I even had 2 friends who lost their dogs yesterday because of this temperature, like an inferno.

Enhance, the max temperature was 41,8Cº and the max thermal sensation was around 50º, there was almost no wind at all and when the wind blew it felt just like Hell's doors just opened. It was so freaking hot that a hail started.

Recently, as Artee said, about 17°C(around 63°F). Lowest temperature I can remember in Rio de Janeiro was 11°C(about 52°F).

Edit: Now that I think about it, I recall a July night where the temperature got to 9°C(48°F)., but nothing lower than that.

The coldest i've lived through was about... Dunno, i think around -25° up in the mountains or so

Official measured temperature is almost always lower than the temperature you see on street thermometers; for one thing, they are protected from direct sunlight incidence(they also are located in grassy areas, IIRC).

Last December we had the highest official temperature ever since the official measurements started... in 1916. Official temperature 43.7°C, thermal sensation up to 55°C. I fear this summer will be as hellish as the last one was.
