EXTRAneous like Fate/EXTRA
Get it? See what I did there?
So I just ordered a copy of Fate/Extra, my only exposure to it having come from Youtube videos and translations on this forum. I'm not too terribly excited about anything it has to offer as a game. Not big on the idea of a RPS RPG
But I do want to see Red Saber (no, not Mordred) in her natural environment. I figure my first play through will be lady Hakuno and Seibah siding with Rin to fight Lu Berserker. If I can stomach another game, it will likely be dude Hakuno and Archer with Rani just so I bask in Archer's delicious tears at fighting Rin and having to through Cu again.
I'm not big on Archer. In fact, I've been pretty open with the fact that he's in the running for my least favorite SN character. But I like the idea of the journey from Shirou to Archer, which may be a pretty big part of a story I'm going to tackle in the near future. So I'd like to see what the story has to say about that, and what I can tease out of his depiction in the Moon Cell Grail War--even though CCC seems to be Nasu reversing his stance and saying the Archers are not actually that much alike once you get down to the core of who they are.
So we'll see how that shakes out.
I don't have anything against fox girl Caster. I'm actually quite fond of the cutesy exterior hiding such a catty, sly personality. I just don't know if I will be able to slog through the game a third time if the YT videos are any indication.
As for the non-playables, I'm incredibly amused by Rider. I'd also like to see firsthand the Nasufied Green Archer and Lu Berserker. I nearly used them in a story once. I wonder how far from Nasu my versions were. Then again, Berserkers gonna zerk, so there's bound to be a lack of characterization on that front.
Such a waste that the guy who is arguably the most popular character from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms was wasted on the Berserker slot. To date, Zero-zerker is the only one who didn't feel like a missed opportunity to me, and that's because there's nothing his being able to speak and think could really add to how much it messed with Saber's head. His being a raving beast actually strengthened the despair of her failures to lead men like Lancelot as a proper king.
With Herc and Lu, it's just seeing an interesting character reduced to a screaming goblin on steroid.
But here I am bitching about a game I haven't played. I really am the worst kind of fanboy.
