Watching The Matrix

And listening to Agent Smith saying that humanity is a parasite, then looking at the worlds current situation and seeing how disturbingly accurate his description was of human activity, really gives me the chills.

Is humanity a parasite? Do we really take more than we should, even when other creatures on this planet just balances themselves to the surroundings, content with what the world gives them?

I dunno man...this just, kinda keeps me thinking...

Smith is talking about himself and the machines in general when he says this. It's self-loathing.

I thought there was irony in that, what he was describing as a parasite actually describes machines as well as humans.

It's hardly a new or original line of thought.

Yeah. Ca depend if you want to read the irony as full-on self-loathing, I think it works.

Please. All any animal does is eat and breed, and the second you drop them somewhere they don't have anything around to kill them off fast enough they'll fuck the environment just as hard as any human until there's nothing left and they all starve to death. The only thing that makes Humans special is that we're smart enough to feel bad about ourselves while we do it.

Ever heard of an invasive species? Similar concept

We're not awful because we're human. We're awful because we're animals without a predator.

    Buddha isn't a species.

Samuel L. Jackson's character in "Kingsman" actually has a really good monologue about humanity being a virus.

Haven't watch Kingsman yet, is it good?

The General Movies thread starts discussing it from about here.

Personally, I felt it didn't settle on what it wanted to be for too long and, partly as a result, its jokes weren't as funny as they shouldn't have been and its serious parts weren't as impactful as they should have been. However, I seem to be an outlier and the general impression is positive.

Hmmm, I wasn't interested in watching it because the trailers were a bit....lackluster to me.

They just, didn't have that pull, I guess.
