Bhakti: What do I roll?
GM : str
Maybe architecture for a weak point.
Bhakti : Don’t have the latter so rip.
rolling 1d205= 25
GM : Yeah about that d205.
Bhakti :rolling 1d20+5= 25
OH SHIT
GM : LMAO
Bhakti : GET FUCKED CRYPT
Eirene: It was fate.
RIP
Bhakti : I WENT ISIS ON YOUR FUCKING ASS
Laindir: lol.)

GM : With a mighty motion, Bhakti hoists his earthbreaker high, smashing it into the crypt's ceiling.
Laindir: (And here I was trying to think of ways to lure the boss out of the crypt).
GM : rolling 1d100= 38
Laindir: (Rocks fall boss dies.)
GM : So mighty is the blow that it causes a chain reaction, collapsing the crypt on itself.
Bhakti : (ALLAHU AKBAR.)
GM : The bad feeling and unnatural cold disappear, and behind you you hear the guards cheering as the skeletons' numbers have stop swelling.
Laindir: Actually amazed at what just happened "Bhakti, that was kind of amazing"
Bhakti : "Thank you, but do not rest easy just yet!"
(I am literally STRONK-MAN)
Laindir: "With my wits and your might there will be nothing stopping our quest to the west!"

(GM : Alright, so you two will help the guards mop up the skeletons I assume?
Bhakti : Yeah we fuck up the spooky skellymen
GM : Not really worth rolling, outnumbered surrounded skeletons aren't doing much to you guys.
Laindir: So far I have a 100 % hit rate.)

GM : As the two of you smash your way out through the skeletons, the guards cheer on Bhakti.
Bhakti : "Good work, gentlemen! Apologies for taking so long."
(GM : Laindir you gain 550 XP, Bhakti you gain 700.
Laindir: nice
Bhakti : ayy
Eirene: How much EXP per level? I see different numbers in the rulebook for slow/medium/fast
Bhakti : 1300
Bhakti : In celebration of my Hitting Things Really Hard Streak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQv16Q0doRY)

-Change scene, back to Eirene as she went to fetch the guards

Eirene: Suppressing her pounding heart, rooted in apprehension as well as all the exercise she's been getting, Eirene summoned up her composure and called out imperiously, "Guards!"
GM : Apparently having heard Eirene's scream, her guard steps out of the barrack, the soldiers behind him staring curiously.
"My lady, what's wrong?!"
Eirene: "There's a disturbance at the western border. Bhakti...the giant and an elf headed off to investigate."
GM : "Truly? Well, I suppose you had best come with me my lady, allow the town guards to investigate."
Eirene: Eirene nodded, relieved that the guardsman did not question her on her worn appearance.

The rest of the guards rush to Bhakti and Laindir's location while Steiner leads her to the inn.

Eirene: "I thought you said I was to follow you, Steiner. Oh, will you join me for tea in the inn, then?""
GM : "As you wish, my lady."

(Eirene: lol I wasn't expecting him to say yes.
Can I sneak past him again with Stealth?
GM : Not while he's watching you.)

Eirene: "I was only jesting, Steiner. Leave me. It is the lord's duty to defend his holdings, after all."
"And you are my father's servant, no?"
GM : "Not at all milady, it is a ruler's duty to insure that the holdings are properly defended.
In this case, that involves leaving the defenses to the designated professionals, while milady stays safe so that they needn't worry for her."

(Eirene: Can I hear Bhakti yelling from the inn?
GM : Roll it.)

Eirene: rolling 1d20+12=29
As she sipped her tea, feeling petulant that she was being coddled, Eirene heard a distant roar.
"Steiner, have someone report on the situation. Surely that cannot be normal."
GM : Steiner, standing at the window, shook his head.
"On the contrary my lady, they appear to have things well in hand."
(Eirene: Did the guardsmen even get any of the action)

This is where I silently place a human model next to the inn where Eirene is. In reference to the previous scene this occurs around the moment the skeletons spawn.

(Eirene: Whoa who's that
Bhakti : Yo dafuq is that
Eirene: CREEPER ALERT
CREEPER ALERT
He looks like a creeper with that hairstyle.
GM: Eirene, roll perception.
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + 12= 14
GM : rolling 1d20 + 2= 4

(Steiner is blind and deaf, as established previously.)
Eirene: (´・ω・`))

GM : Eirene, you hear faint noises from the floor below, slightly more noisy than you'd expect from the inn.
Eirene: "A guest at this time?" Eirene put down her teacup. "Curious timing."
GM : At that time, Eirene felt a chill go down her spine, and Steiner straightened an alert look in his eyes.
"Stay here, milady. I must make sure of something."
Bhakti : (RIP Steiner)
GM : With those words, he stepped outside the room and closed the door.
Eirene: (Can I roll stealth to peek?)
GM : (sure if you're stealthing.)
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + 6= 26
(Hahahahahahahaha.
Do I get some kind of bonus)
GM : rolling 1d20 + 2= 13
rolling 1d20 + 10= 14

Eirene: (is it just me or am I doing better in stealth than perception despite the 6-point difference)
GM : Eirene snuck the door - that Steiner had neglected to lock - open, and watched as her bodyguard turned the corner to go down the stairs.

At this point I redirect my attention to the other two, and we come back to this scene after it's over.

Eirene: (JAWS theme
I'm still peeking right?)
GM : Yes but since he turned the corner, you can't actually see hi from inside your room.
Eirene: (Guess I'll sneak out a bit more, can I just keep my previous Stealth roll or no?)
GM : Yes.
Eirene: After listening for the guardsman's footsteps to fade, Eirene quietly opened the door.
Bhakti : (It was a nat20 IIRC so you should want to keep that)
Eirene: (Stalker time)
GM : As you move to peek around the corner that Steiner just turned, you can now look down the stairs.
Eirene: (Oh nice)
GM : You can see Steiner standing a bit further away, his sword drawn.
You don't see who he's facing though.
Eirene: Cautiously, so as not to disturb the creaky floorboards, Eirene leaned forwards to look down the stairs and was startled to see Steiner with his sword drawn.
(Do I hear anything?)
GM : Roll perception.
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + 12= 24
(whew, I was expecting a 1)
Bhakti : (So long as you don’t roll 1 you basically cant fail a roll entirely.
With that bonus.)
GM : Steiner: "Your like is not welcome in the kingdom, begone."
Man: "Gladly, as soon as I have what I came for."
Steiner: "You have no rights to make any demands, criminal. It is only out of magnanimity that I give you a chance to flee."

Eirene: (Smells like a necromancer)
GM : The other man sounds fairly old, but doesn't seem particularly afraid.
Eirene: (Do I still feel that chill I felt earlier?)
GM : It appears to have passed, it was just for a moment.
Eirene: (All right, I'm going to try to get a closer look)
Remembering the chill she felt earlier, a strange sense of apprehension prompted Eirene to quietly descend the stairs so as to get a better grasp of the situation.
GM : rolling 1d20 + 8= 20
"Magnanimity indeed. Where is your army, friend? As far as I can see it is naught but you, and one soldier of a dying kingdom is no threat."

Eirene: (How close do I have to get to see the speaker?)
GM : The second guest room, give or take.
Eirene: (All right)
GM : The speaker is a man with gray eyes in a black robe, his features harsh. His back is slightly bent, but that might just be because he appears to be mocking Steiner.
Eirene: (Can I roll perception to try to discern more information?)
GM : There isn’t much more than that to be seen really.
Eirene: Eyes fixed on the stranger, Eirene continued to observe the conversation, body tensing unconsciously.
(Can I cast a spell on the dude?
Color spray go
Get out of the way Steiner)
GM : You can try.
Eirene: (What do I roll?)
Bhakti : (Color Spray is 15 range
You’re 25 away)
Eirene: (I'll sneak into range then, make full use of that nat20)
Bhakti : (And you don’t have to roll anything on the cast)
Eirene: (Whelp, here goes
RIP me maybe)
GM : (Step into range and cast?)

Eirene: Noticing Steiner's unusually agitated bearing, Eirene decided that it was likely best to take action first, before it's too late. Too late for what, exactly, she wasn't sure; but it was clear enough that the strange man spelled trouble.
(Anti-creeper color spray go)
GM : rolling 1d20 + 2= 14
rolling 1d20 + 5= 20

Eirene: (I'm scared
Dramatic drum roll.)
GM : A spray of color comes from Eirene's hand, taking the two men by surprise. Unfortunately, both manage to resist her spell.
Apparently taking this as a signal to launcht the hostilities, both men attack as Steiner cries out "You will regret this, fiend!".

(Eirene: (´・ω・`)
GM : You almost got Steiner though!
Eirene: Poor dude, he must have build up resistance over the years of dealing with Eirene.)

GM : Initiative time.
rolling 1d20 + 5= 23
rolling 1d20 + 2= 16

Eirene: (my initiative is 2 so I roll 1d20+2?)
GM : Yes.
Bhakti : (+ dex)
GM : (The 2 is from dex.)
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + 2= 4
(´・ω・`)
GM : (Ah well. Steiner gets the first round.)
With a battle cry, he lunges forward toward the man.
rolling 1d20 + 5= 18
Bhakti : (I was expecting Steiner to get killed instantly by the tutorial boss so Eirene gets a revenge thing)
GM : rolling 1d8 + 1= 7
Eirene: (I dunno if she'd care much for revenge unless her stepfather got murdered or something.
Poor Steiner, it's not his fault.)
GM : With a well-trained swing, he strikes true, opening a gash in the man's robes.

(Eirene: Go get 'im Steiner while I stay back and be useless.
Steiner, use Scratch!
It's super-effective!)

GM : With a snarl, the man straightens himself.
"Bah! You fool, this is real magic!"
rolling 1d20 + 3= 12
The man raises his hands, and multiple silver wisps emerge from them, surrounding Steiner and slashing away at him.
rolling 5d6= 18
Eirene: (´・ω・`)
Bhakti : (Yo RIP as fuck)
GM : Steiner's flesh is torn apart by the argent slivers, but he does not fall, gritting his teeth and merely letting out a grunt of pain.

(Eirene: My Guardsman Can't Be This Tough
GM : Well yeah, he has 4d10+12 HP.
He is an officer sent directly by the king y'know.
Bhakti : Time for more sugoi magic)
GM : Your turn Eirene.
Eirene: Hmm, the opponent is a mage so I guess I'd be better off with traditional weapons?
My debuffing doesn't do much against mages without apparatus.
Bhakti : After he just hit yo dude up for 18 damage, literally 2½ times your health, I wouldnt get too close
Eirene: c-crossbow at 15-feet?
Bhakti : There’s no reason you can’t
GM : -4 penalty to not risk hitting Steiner.
Aside from that it works.
Eirene: Oh wait, I mean I have a crossbow in my equipment but lol why am I carrying one right now.
Oh well
Bhakti : Literally hidden in your skirt.)

Eirene: After ascertaining that the opponent relied only on his spellcraft with no external apparatus she could sabotage, Eirene pulled out her crossbow. She disliked having to rely on a weapon herself, but the situation gave her no other choice.
Bhakti : (with a -4 because you're trying not to cap Steiner's ass)
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + -2= 12
(Then damage for 1d8, just to be sure?)
GM : Unfortunately the man narrowly avoids your shot.
Eirene: (aw
All my luck has been drained by my stealth rolls.)
GM : Shooting a glance behind him, Steiner shows signs of worries for the first time.
"Run to the town guards!"
Eirene: (Also that random perception I rolled for the lulz.)
GM : Gripping his sword tighter, he swings once more at the man.
Eirene: (Is he telling me to jump out the window or something?
Oh wait I see a side door
Never mind.)

Eirene's confusion came from the fact that Steiner and the Necromancer are between her and the front door.

GM: rolling 1d20 + 5= 13
Steiner's next swing misses as well, and the man meets him with a grim smile.
rolling 1d20 + 2= 12
As he lays his palm on Steiner's armored chest, Eirene can feel an intense cold emanating from their position.
rolling 4d6= 12
Bhakti : (Yo Steiner is a chump if he gets hit on 12)
GM : Steiner stumbles, but catches himself just before hitting the ground, crying out in pain.
(Touch attack, nor armor to AC.)

(Bhakti : Ok uh this guy seems like he’s boss tier so either you chicken out now or things might get bad
Eirene: seems like I spent most of my day as a damsel in distress
GM : While higher level he's also a wizard and thus lacks infinite spells.
Your call on fleeing or trying to support Steiner to the win though.)

Eirene: Even in such a situation, Eirene could not help but admire the wizard's prowess. She herself had always lacked magical talent, with the exception of certain narrow areas.

(Eirene: GM, are there any light fixtures on the ceiling?
GM : Ceiling, no. The light is mostly coming from candles, a fireplace and torches on the walls.
Bhakti : I hope the ISIS strike on their spooky ritual will scare this guy off.
Eirene: Well, there goes my plan for having a ceiling light fall on top of the guy's head
Or at least create a distraction.
Bhakti : Shoot his ass again.
Eirene: Is there any torch near me, can I do a flaming arrow?
RIP if it hits Steiner.
But I won't necessarily aim at the man, just somewhere nearby/behind him.
GM : A flaming arrow would probably be impossible.
Eirene: Awww
I wanted to set fire to his boots:
GM : If you're trying to set the place on fire just make a torch fall.
Eirene: Preferably set fire to somewhere behind the enemy though
Can I throw a torch that far?
GM : If only you had a class feature to use sabotage at range.
Eirene: oh yeah
RIP torch holder
GM : You need to sing for it though.)

Eirene: With the situation clearly not about to take a turn for the better without some kind of drastic measure, an idea flashed through Eirene's mind and she began humming, a cheerful tune that was completely out of place in the situation.

(Eirene: Here’s to hoping the guy doesn't know what I'm doing)
GM: He's a little busy.
Sword to the face and all.
Eirene: inb4 one of them dies before I'm done with my arsonry.
GM : You need to roll the skill still though, class feature lets you use it as a free action but it doesn't give automatic success.
Eirene: oh, thought I was going to roll it on the turn after
So roll it now?
rolling 1d20 + 5= 13
GM : Starting to sing = standard action, not a full turn.
Eirene: inb4 superman torchstick that somehow refuses to fall
In a ramshackle inn.)

GM : You succeed in affecting the torch holder, but unfortunately it appears to be holding on. It will fall in
rolling 1d4= 1
One round.
Eirene: (ganbatte Steiner)
GM: rolling 1d20 + 5= 22
rolling 1d8 + 3= 7

(Eirene: I'm just humming in the background.
I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin')

GM : Steiner's second strike is more effective than the first, and the mage stumbles. It appears that despite Steiner's greater injuries they are still relatively equal.
The mage cries out, in anger and panic.
"You are nothing! Nothing! The remnant of a dying kingdom! You will die! For me, for my master!"
rolling 1d20 + 2= 16
rolling 2d6= 7

GM : Once more his hand lashes out, surrounded by a dark energy, but while no wounds appear on Steiner he appears to be slowing down fromt he duress, while the necromancer stands tall, his wounds from he last strike healing before Eirene's eyes.
Eirene: (Has the torchstick fallen yet)
GM : The torch falls on the wooden ground, slowly beginning to set it on fire.
Unfortunately it will take time.
Eirene: Certainly, it has never been such an agonizing affair to wait for something to burn. Whether the burning wood of a fireplace, or the burning sheafs of letters reminding her of something she'd rather forget, watching fire burn had always been a relaxing affair for Eirene. But not now. At the very least, she had to aid Steiner in distracting the opponent while the fire spread slowly through the wooden room.
rolling 1d20 + -2= 2
(´・ω・`)
(Bhakti where are you, come laugh at me)
Bhakti : (HEE HEE HEE HEE)
Eirene: (if only this was Cthulu where lower numbers were better)
GM : rolling 1d20+5= 9
Bhakti : (or Dark Heresy)
GM : The man raises his hands high, shouting a battle cry as the cold returns, more intense than ever before.
(Please roll reflex)
rolling 1d20+3= 23
Steiner succeeds.
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + 2= 19
GM : And so does Eirene.
Bhakti : (Ninja clan)
GM : rolling 1d6+5= 8
(Both take 4 damage.)
Eirene: (3/7 left \o/)
GM : Though the damage from the wizard's onslaught was minimal, it was successful at freezing the area around them, putting out the torch.
Panting and wounded, Steiner spoke confidently nonetheless.
"You...are tiring mage. Your end is nigh."
Eirene: Eirene staggered slightly as the chill hit her, only to realize that the flame she lit had been put out. Frustrated, and not thinking entirely clearly, she pulled out the crossbow once more.
rolling 1d20 + -2= 8
(´・ω・`)
(I knew it!
If this was Nechronica or something I'd be piling up on my insanity points to reroll.)
Bhakti : (Y-you can do it!
She can't do it.)
GM : (geez if you guys wanted a horror kill them all rp you just had to ask, I would have gladly obliged.)
rolling 1d20 + 3= 10
rolling 1d20 + 2= 9

Steiner and the mage ineffectually swing at each others.
Eirene: (The dice, they are cursed)
Bhakti : (I think you should go for the desperate shank at this rate)
Eirene: rolling 1d20 + -2= 8
Bhakti : (He might be out of magic)
Eirene: (whelp
It just occurred to me that I haven't managed to land a single shot.)
GM : rolling 1d20 + 5= 24
Eirene: (hahahahahahaha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
Bhakti : (OH SHIT STEINER THE MVP)
GM : rolling 1d20 + 5 = 25
GM : Ah yes he confirmed the crit.
rolling (1d8+3)x2=22
Bhakti : (OH RIP)
Eirene: (My sides
My sides)
GM : Dealing 22 damage.
RIP boss fight.
Bhakti : (STEINER THE FUCKING GOD)
Eirene: (Tears)
GM : Grasping his sword with both hands, Steiner strikes with utmost determination, slashing his enemy in two.

(GM : (So that should do it for tonight. You earn 450 xp.
Eirene: Wait wait
Can we strip the enemy?
GM : Err why?
Eirene: (See if he has any cool stuff
Bhakti : So how much HP is Steiner on?
Eirene: IC reason would be to see if he carries any clue as to his identity/plans etc.
GM: Well if you want to explain to Steiner why you stayed instead of running off before he turns around sure.
Steiner is at 6HP I think.
Eirene: Especially since he mentioned a master.
Which is almost as much as my full HP, hur.
GM : Level 4 fighter vs level 1 non-fighter with no con yeah.)

Eirene: While Steiner was still grimacing, adrenaline gone and leaving him to deal with the full brunt of the pain, Eirene quickly strode over to the enemy's remains and began rummaging through them.

As I was getting tired, and not at all because I didn't plan for the necromancer to die and needed time to decide what he carried, we decided to end it there.

-End Session-

I love it when a plan doesn't come together. I'm not for railroading, but it is fun to see the lengths to which some GMs will go to keep their party on track.
