Burrito does things.

Nosebleeds and solo-moderating.

So I took up a moderating job in another forum, only for all the other moderators to somehow vanish thanks to real life and becoming the only active moderator in charge of handling everything since the admin was too busy with the other forum he owned.
For the first two months, everything was fine, minus the fact that I had to come online every day to regulate the chat and deal with reports about salty individuals with comprehension skills worse than a kindergarten kid.

Then the flames started happening, the game developers started fucking up as usual and instead of being the better people and just laughing it off like usual, some people (a cult dedicated to accusing all devil's advocates and nice guys of being worshippers of the company) ended up blowing shit out of proportion, deciding to devolve into shit flinging monkeys, and started several flames on so many threads that I ended up going without sleep for fourty hours and even ended up snapping at their idiocy once; earning the ire of their brigade and leading to a few insults being thrown here and there.

It didn't help that I had my own work to do, my own self-studies (since I'm, after all, a drop out who failed my O levels thanks to a cotton bud stuck in my ear) and an elder brother yapping over my autistic, overly sensitive years.

Nonetheless, I barely contained the situation and held the line; and then I fell asleep on my keyboard while having a moment of angst on my annoyance at not having contained the situation better and for actually snapping.

So I dreamed of electric sheep, Mag Prime helmets and swimming in blood gems and glimmer.

When I woke up, I realised I had a bad nosebleed and so I went to wait it out...

... Except that it took one whole hour and several wads of tissues to clear up the blood leaking out of it that I'm sure would have reached a coke can's amount if I hadn't used some medicated tissues I brought back from Australia. I'm still feeling light headed as it is now and my fingers keep slipping.

Even as an artist/writer with shit skills who goes on for two plus days without sleeping on average, this was odd to me and I'm honestly curious if work stress causes such bad nosebleeds and headaches? Maybe it's the salt? Or is this perhaps a result of several years of not sleeping?

Oh and even in the throes of pain and non-erotic nosebleeds, I managed to scrounge up some artwork!

I also managed to complete a few pieces of writing in that time as a way of venting, but that's a horror that should never be shared.

Dry nose, varicose blood vessels, high blood pressure, nose picking, coagulation disorders; all of those can make you have bad nosebleeds.

If it reoccurs go to a doctor.

    Ah, what a familiar tale.

I got a nose bleed from a Halo match once.

May be the blood pressure, my dad has hypertension and my mum had to go for a heart surgery a few months back, I'll go get it checked out.

I assume that the moderators here have had similar... unfortunate experiences? Other than Mike and Lantz of course. I did get nosebleeds and pounding headaches from Halo matches when I used to play extremely competitively (to the point that on Halo charts they said I was literally in the top 5k in the world which was pretty badass IMO! *puffs with pride*) until Halo 4 came along and the most stressful fight I ever had was tuning out my ears to the whining of twelve year old kids.

I had a nosebleed from waking up two days ago. Maybe we are linked.

    Waking up with a nosebleed in the middle of the night is terrible. I've ruined a pillow and a pillow case or two cuz of that shit ;_;

At least it never actually stained the bed itself.

I've ruined a few pillows too, it's bad when they are plain white ones and even worse when the blood is enough to seep through the cases and ends up staining the pillow itself... I thank the stars that I haven't stained my books yet, those things are pretty damn precious.

I had nosebleeds frequently when I was still in primary school. But after I passed primary it never occurred to me for years, like until now.

Think you need to rest properly and don't stress out too much man. A proper rest constitutes a healthy body.

    Nice reference to Dick btw.

Not really anymore, but it was like that when I first became mod.

Top 5k in the world is pretty good. I never really played Halo 4; I should finish the single player campaign one day. Halo 3 was my last Halo that I was super into.

Ah, so I'm assuming such stress is typical for mod work? Great.

Halo 3 was the last balanced Halo game IMO, Reach was nice, 4 was just unbalanced as hell and you're better off just playing the campaign.

Edit: Dick's writing is great and I will spare no expense at referencing it.
