Cosplay Money is Power System

Seriously, seriously, seriously debating next year's costume choice. As always, my eye exceeds my budget. ;.;

...Hn.

One of them I can actually repurpose the pieces outside of a cosplay, so that's one thing to consider.

On a less "Sunny frets indecisively which one to buy" note, I'm a little curious if people generally get their costumes pre-made or custom commissioned. I'm not an experienced... or cute... or qualified... or good... or etc. cosplayer by any means, so finding out how or where to get custom pieces done has been a bit daunting.

Like, are there good resources for getting custom props or accessories made...? This is something I really need to research this year, if I want to be more prepared for AX or whatever other convention next year. This year was a bit of a hodgepodge effort, since it was my first time. Since my Mashu was custom-made by a tailor, but Kiyohime I had to purchase each part from different sources, and some pieces were much worse because of it.

(I will never forgive those horns, cosplayinspire)

Eheh. Sorry for the silly inquiry while I stare at the two Buy buttons.

    Affordable and terrifying. I wonder if anyone has ever done that with fake lens flare, lol.

    these cosplay things look like they'll unironically look good on women that are pretty

    or really really pretty boys.

    Just do what I do, find a character you (vaguely) look like and have a comewhat similar fashion sense to, spend a maximum of £20 on one thing and BAM instant cosplay.

    CA Hassan with robe sounds really cheap to me.

    My sister handmakes all her stuff

    If I bother to, I just get something off some Chinese site and then try to tailor it to my size, which often sucks because I'm apparently a lot skinnier than most people my height and everything is super baggy.

    Pre-made cosplays are always overpriced to hell and back. Every cosplay I've done has been really cheaply home-made (never more than $50), so I don't get stopped and photographed but I still have tons of fun. Though of course that's probably also because I don't really have the... uh... physique of many of the characters I cosplay.

    ...That may work.

    Kya! That's a cute recreation. The wig looks super cute. ^^

    ...Mm. Actually being able to tailor the pieces seems like a pretty vital skill to start working on and the suggestions for budget options are super appreciated. Thank you thank you!

    I'll definitely have to pay-to-play for my next commission, since I dearly want to rig a working D'Eon one, and that's... way beyond my starter pack skill level, lol.
