Volume 7 summary, Part 2 of 4

Vol7 ch3
When he woke up Kanade’s fully dressed (and he notes that as being unfortunate – gynophobia or not, he’s still a guy) and she told him to get back to cleaning. By the time he’s done cleaning it’s past 9pm. He took his dog suit off after much effort.
He went to the kitchens to look for food, and Ichigo asked him how the baths cleaning went. Jiro lied Kanade was just getting in at the entrance and told him not to clean the place, since if he tells the truth he’s likely to be dead meat. Ichigo’s expressions says it’s a pity her plan didn’t work.
Ichigo gave him his dinner – a can of dog food. Jiro expected this and asked her is that really the best a stand-in cook can do, since he heard from Kanade Ichigo has pride in her cooking. She replied she was under orders to do so (not from Kanade). Subaru’s father (and her sempai) once told her it is alright to treat Jiro like a dog. Jiro thought he probably didn’t expect a fire to burn down Jiro’s home, but he certainly made plans to prepare for what happens if Jiro does need to come over when he’s not around.

Ichigo however took back the dog food, saying he’ll still get human food since he’s the ojou-sama’s (Kanade) friend after all. He got thrown some instant meal packages, edible after boiling the pack in water for two minutes.

After the meal, it’s 9:30pm and he went back to his tent. Jiro’s not full even after the dinner. He planned on going to sleep and stop worry about whether if he’ll even get food at breakfast time, but found Subaru there in his dog-suit. She red-facedly told him after being caught she was jealous that Jirou get to wear something that cute. Jiro though wasn’t sure he heard right when Subaru commented as a aside she wore it because it had Jiro’s scent. Subaru had Kanade told her which button to press to unlock it after she worn it, but she forgot which button it was. And she doesn’t want to press random buttons to find out in case she pressed the chest massage one and be tormented by it. Jiro told her he’ll press the button and let her out, but Subaru blushed and went slient. Jiro found her butler clothes at one corner of his tent instead of Subaru just putting the suit over her clothes.

Subaru told him she brought him food, and his stomach instantly went ‘hallelujah!’. It turns out to be only tea. Butlers might be incredibly good at tea-making but tea doesn’t fill stomachs. And despite Jiro’s fears that Subaru’s knack of bad cooking might affect the tea it tasted good.
Jiro’s stomach grumbled while talking with Subaru, and she found out about how little Jiro had to eat. Subaru’s still banned from the kitchen so she can’t go make things there, instead Subaru invited Jiro to her room.

Subaru has a hidden stash of cup ramen (XL size) under her bed, complete with hot water flask. She had to hide it in her room since cup ramen were seen as unhealthy by the household in general and they might confiscate her stash. Jiro looked around Subaru’s room and found there’s a ton of Silent Lamb plushies around. Mostly from Nakuru, as her father is the head of the company who made them. Jiro thought Subaru’s easily bribed with these things.
Jiro is feeling his gynophobia acting up, being in a girl’s room. Kureha gives off a sense of danger so he didn’t feel that way, and Usami’s room was haunted. Subaru asks him if he wants to play the Wii (this console was partially censored in the text), and he agreed. Jiro remembered Kureha tend to break the controllers and go for wrestling if he beats her on a game.
Subaru only had one game, and she’s not that good at it (despite throwing in 300 hours of gameplay in her spare time – it’s not a game a single-player can be good at) so they gave up. Subaru doesn’t want to ask Kanade to play because of her position as a butler, and her father’s out of the question because she don’t want him in her room. She also mentioned he watched Ponyo (go google that) recently, and sympathizes with the Ponyo’s father (Flere821 Explanation: loves his daughter but given the cold shoulder).

They moved onto a game they played before at the resort. Writing words on each other’s back and try to guess what was written. Subaru forced herself to go first, written ‘suki’ (like/love) but out of embarrassment turned it into ‘sukiyaki’ (a type of food). Then she forced Jiro to move on to poker, but Jiro said it’s late so they should stop. Subaru told him she wants to guve him another therapy session to cure his gynophobia now. Subaru used the remote and took off the dog-suit, and even though Jiro’s flailing about he peeked and found Subaru actually had a swimsuit under it (the same one from summer vacation). He asked why didn’t she take the suit off in the tent then if she wasn’t naked underneath, and Subaru replied it was too embarrassing.

Subaru told Jiro she heard from Usami that he went to her house during summer vacation for a meal and even hugged each other when Usami was only in a swimsuit. And from that she got the idea of doing the same thing, hugging Jiro with only her swimsuit on. Jiro thought this is dangerous, being alone like this and in Subaru’s room. But he still wants to cure his gynophobia so be can have a normal relationship with a girl.
She told Jiro in a small voice to hug her. She can’t go hug him because it’s too embarrassing. Jiro hugged Subaru, close enough to feel her breath on his skin. Due to the recognition he’s hugging a girl he got goosebumps, and he felt that being caught in a hold by Kureha is more comfortable than this. Subaru told him to hug her tighter, since this is for curing his gynophobia. He did so, and Subaru commented he’s warm. Jiro can’t quite give a response to that since he’s starting to get dizzy, and it’s a miracle he’s not nosebleeding yet. It’s a record for him so far, by this point normally he’d be down in a pool of blood.

Before he was about to let go, Subaru looked up and into his eyes. Her blushing face had a expression that’s distinctively that of a girls, different to when she crossdressed. She was about to confess when Kureha knocked on the door and asked if Subaru’s awake. Jiro got told he need to hide and he went inside Subaru’s closet. In her haste Subaru tripped while putting on her clothes, and Kureha was alarmed at what might have happened. Subaru jumped inside her closet together with Jirou despite it being cramped. Kureha came in and wondered where did Subaru go. Subaru had kicked the dog suit under her bed beforehand so there’s no incriminating evidence in view.

Kureha decided to wait for Subaru to come back, and rolled around on her bed while gushing on how there’s so many plushies (Jiro saw all that from a gap in the closet). Kanade who’s walking by saw Subaru’s door is open and came to check, and found Kureha rolling around. Kureha told Kanade she was planning on showing Subaru her maid outfit, while Kanade said Kureha’s so bold to try and tempt Subaru like that.
Kanade made eye contact with Jiro in the gap and decided to do more trolling. She told Kureha she’s free to stay and they can dig around for more things so she can understand Subaru better. She fished out a photo album and Subaru whimpered. It was filled of ‘safe’ photos of Subaru so the secret isn’t exposed.
Kanade then directed Kureha to the guide on Subaru’s desk: ‘Sure Kill! How to strike at that person’s heart!’. Subaru tensed up and hugged Jiro, and he got a nosebleed. Kureha however mistaken the methods of love in there for methods to beat up someone.
Then Kanade handed Kureha Subaru’s diary. Subaru almost wanted to jump right out and stop Kureha. Jiro felt her hold tightened and his nosebleed got worse. Subaru is increasingly embarrassed by the kind of things she’s reading out in hearing distance of Jiro.

Kureha finally got curious of a hearing a girl’s voice and asked Kanade about it. Kanade suggested the place might be haunted. Kureha suggested leaving before Subaru comes back as a excuse and tried to leave, much to Jiro’s relief.
At this moment Subaru was about to sneeze, and Kureha caught her voice. She decided to try and search for the monster to fight it. Jiro knew Subaru is about to sneeze, and tried to think of a way to stop it. He remembered what happened in the baths earlier today, and decided there’s no other choice since otherwise Subaru’s secret might be discovered and then be fired.

Jiro kissed Subaru, and held it long enough until Kanade and Kureha left (Kanade talked Kureha into thinking it’s just her imagination and got her to come to Kanade’s room to massage Kanade). After that both of them fell out of the closet and Jiro apologized profusely for taking advantage of Subaru like that. Subaru fell unconscious due to shock at the event, and Jiro saw in her haste to get inside the closet het swimsuit top fell off. He quickly put Subaru to bed and tried his hardest not to peek at her body as he did so, thinking it wouldn’t be right if he takes advantage of Subaru like this when he’s the cause. He’s still blushing as he left thinking about what had just happened, and he apologized to Subaru (though she didn’t hear him). He thought at this rate he’d never be able to look at Subaru ever again due to embarrassment.
