As it's still under investigation, I'm not sure what they'd tell me - hell, I'm not even sure who to contact. But tomorrow's definitely got checking up on that on my agenda.

You have to try. Even if the results are painful, it'll be an eternal mystery unless you try something. Do you know any friends of hers?

I am going to hope that the name and age being the same is only a coincidence, and that it is not indeed the person you know, but yeah...this is truly a terrible situation to be in, especially with the lack of knowing. Probably doesn't mean much, but if there is anything I can do, Kieran, please let me know.

So far as I know, I was pretty much it in town - and nothing about any friends she might've had out of province. But yeah, I'll be heading to the police station today, to see what they'll tell me - I'm not looking forward to it.


As for the rest of you - thanks, all. I appreciate the sentiments, honestly.

So I've been to the police, and they couldn't help me - they either didn't know, or didn't have the authority. And since I never knew how to contact her family (aside from the aforementioned "husband"), their only advice was to wait and see if the news printed a photograph.

. . . Not what I was hoping to hear, but it's not their fault.

...Hopefully it's not your worst fears realized. I'm going through one of these myself right now, admittedly, but I'd rather not talk about it.

It could be a coincidence - her name's not exactly unique. But what throws me is that while it said she recently moved back here from out-of-town, which could fit, the news said she moved here in July of last year - and I can't see why she wouldn't have tried to contact me in over six months.

. . . Basically, I'm waiting on the media to confirm it for me. Thanks for the sympathies, everybody - they're helping to keep me sane.
