I create a world of finite somethings

More Hearts of the Suffering notes, pay of no mind

I really should bug people like Seika about this stuff. I always kind of feel like I fumble the ball when it comes to the epic side of things because I prefer the down-to-earth elements of Nasuverse more than the crazyawesome aspects. Or at least, I prefer the dichotomy, the "I'm going to conquer the world...but first I'm gonna play this video game" aspect. So when I start thinking of stuff like Servant creation or abilities for magi to have, I feel like it falls short of what I could probably pull off.

"Waver's faction." Not really a faction in the I-order-you-around sense, but they're loyal students with promise that end up involving themselves in the situation with the grail. Maybe.
-Boundary field specialist. Not anything special when it comes to talent, and only good with fields because they’re inert and easy to study. Definitely in love with Waver and his will-go-and-improve-self attitude. Hinata-ish in that way?
-Alchemy specialist. Someone who has gained knowledge easily and who has the capacity for a lot of advancement, but has little interest in such. Like Baccano!’s Firo? People like Waver and Rin are annoyed with his talent seemingly going nowhere. He’d rather use what he has in the field. A bit in love with Waver. Yes, a boy.
-Mystic Code specialist. Fascinated by Noble Phantasms. Has almost zero talent as mage, so makes up for it with outside devices, thus the fascination. Definitely tsundere, as she blusters to make up for confidence issues. Most invested in the whole grail thing, wants to see the project firsthand? Ends up fascinated by any NPs that get tossed around?
-Interested in 3rd Magic and has researched it extensively. A little macabre and eerie, though probably not seen as such by other magi. Generally more silent. Instead of fearing death, fascinated by it?

Probably won't even have this many. My theory on writing: write down everything, then cut 90%. You know, the 90% crap. Wait, this means I'll have less than half of a character if I do that...

I also know at least two (I guess, technically, three) of the antagonists in this. One that's going to be after the grail system specifically for the third, because he, like so many, are afraid of dying and wants any form of the third he can have. I think, anyway. The other two that I most certainly will pursue as antags would be a sibling pair. So much talk about Tokiomi, Rin, and Sakura's situation in the F/Z thread has me wanting to depict a sort of dark mirror to that, and one that isn't like Touko and Aoko's situation. Like, so, the eldest is a magi with a crest and the support of the family. The other is also a magi, but was not married or adopted off. Instead, they support their older sibling fully, but to the degree that they have become a tool. Something like the Zabuza/Haku relationship, or Maximillian/Selvaria, or that sort of thing. Or maybe go darker and say Gauron and the twins.

Basically, because, I think this is going to set up in a more F/Zish way as opposed to FSN or whatnot. For one, I know I'm not going to have it in first person. I also know it is going to be very threaded, because a lot of the stuff that I see happening is doing so very separately--like, Waver starts in London, but Rin heads off almost immediately to Japan, and Shirou ends up detouring to try and intercept someone else...

So, then, like Zero, there should probably be entire character arcs for anyone I'm going to focus on. So if Rin and Sakura have a thematic "opponent" then it would lend to that. Meaning, though, that there would have to be something for Waver. Luvia, too, if I include her, and I keep feeling like I should. I already know what Shirou and Saber's situation is going to entail.

...I also have the sneaking suspicion that if I bring the Einzberns in this, Leysritt is going to be present, and is going to be my Illya mouthpiece. I've even considered the idea of Leys actually accompanying Shirou, though someone I think is actually thinking of doing a story like that from the fanfic ideas thread and I'm not sure I wanna open that bag of ether clumps. Also, would she even have survived ten years? Considering how "poorly" she was made, I kind of have the feeling she wouldn't.

On a completely separate matter, I know exactly what I'm doing with Shared Resonance now. Before, I was like, "If I actually depict Wallachia, how the hell would I write his defeat without Melty Blood manga-style Crimson Moon asspullery?" I have my answer. Heh.
