They got their new place and have a ton of room now. Lol, Lav and I played through the entirety of Shadow over Mystara when we went. It's definitely doable now that it doesn't cost you $20 in continues, lol.

Taking a look at their wordpress site, I like their business model. A traditional "Get in for free, pay to play the games" model really wouldn't work very well right now, but I think the "Pay to enter, play everything you can for free" model holds a lot of promise. It also eliminated the ne'er do wells you alluded to earlier, because why the fuck would you pay to hang out at a place and hustle people, when you can do that in the mall for free? From the sounds of it the place is great, here's hoping they can expand sometime soon.

Actually, that is a large part of Arcade Legacy's business model. They've recently had people go to Evo from the fierce competitions there. They occasionally have LAN nights and all that as well.

Something I think would really go over quite well right now would be an arcade that focuses a lot on competitive gaming. Usually this means fighting games, and while that most definitely is an important part of the CG community, there are also tons of other games to choose from. The FPS is clearly a good one to go after, and with games like Tribes: Ascension becoming fairly popular I don't think it would be too difficult to get a decent number of computers that could run the game set up and ready for someone to pop in, play a few rounds with friends, and head on their merry way. And of course MOBA games are becoming very popular too and are actually surprisingly fun to watch, which could gather a nice sized crowd if advertised right.

I dunno, it just seems like all of the pieces are there, it just needs someone to put them all together.
