@Sunny: Well, I'm a mythology geek through and through and felt like, of all majors available to me at my college/uni, the one that I was both most interested in and the one most suited to what I like and love to talk about/inform people about - which hopefully would lead to some sort of teaching career opportunities down the line.

@The Geek: Congrats to you, too!

Nice. I also graduated back in June (Biology/Ecology with Math minor)

    Oh, congratulations! ^^

What made you go into that major? It's an interesting one.

Incidentally, I had a benign eye cyst that was operated on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in middle school.

Ah, a fellow TN resident? Neat. Though I have to admit up front I grew up in Texas and was born in Gainesville, Florida.

I really hope they're able to help. Knoxville is the nearest 'bigger' city to me, incidentally. But I wish you a return of good health! Mouth problems suck and hurt and I'm sorry.

Thanks, NC! Updated the post with the specialist's diagnosis.

Admittedly, I don't know anyone who's ever had a salivary cyst before, but I know enough that it's no joke. My prayers are with you.

This makes no sense. It is like trying to teach More Code before you learn the alphabet.

Both hiragana and katakana should be finished by the end of an intro course -- you literally can't function without them!

Intro level or not, you're supposed to learn hiragana first.
