Roadbuster Linked me to this blog post, and I read it. And there was a lot I can sympathize with the author, and there was a lot that made me chuckle in my experiences of reading something over for someone.

Writing, true writing, is hard. Some people have it, some people don't, and some people can learn to be competent writers but they may not have it.

You should know what it is if you've ever read a book that you couldn't put down or a fanfic that you chomp at the bit ...

So, maybe the next time I want to "challenge myself" when writing I should look back at Fuil Olc Claidheamh Mór and then proceed to punch myself in the vagina. Then yell at myself, "ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?!" And then end this by slamming my head into one of the lovely sheet rock walls my house happens to have to never, ever again write something out of my comfort zone unless I have a REALLY good idea and fully fleshed out characters for it.

This has been the hardest ...

So, this fantasy story is . . . sort of kicking my ass.

Figured I'd post some of it to get some feed back on it. See if I'm getting the feel right.

The whisper of steel sliding from its wooden sheath was almost deafening, but musical just the same. Elf's at it again!

This is the latest anthology available that I'm featured in, and it's one of my favorite short stories I've ever written.

It centers around Ash, a not so heroic heroic vampire who has no qualms about draining dry humanity's worse. A feme fatal of the highest sort.

So I should be writing right now. Really, I should. I have all of my messengers off, Dragonforce is playing on Pandora, but yet I'm having trouble. It's not writer's block persay, but this story I'm working on.

It's a fantasy story.

And Fantasy as in Sword and Sorcery and not of the Urban variety with vampires and guns. This isn't my genre. Which isn't an excuse, but I've already had to scratch the first beginning and try it again. Just for some reason this story ...
