though on the topic of "praetor," it's more complex than referring to Roma military/political offices. Basically, as a word alone it just means "boss" or any regular connotation of that, including "Master" as well. It's similar to the Arabic sheikh or sayyid in that while it does have more specific meanings, it in general can just refer to anyone in a position of relative power.

You can probably find rare books in Mandarake, Angel Notes, World Materials, that sort of thing. The games too if that's your thing.
