Your blogs need more traffic, Arashi. And this is a pretty neat self-imposed challenge/topic, too!

That story brings back my own memories of going to Anime North. You really captured the feeling of being at a con, and the whole idea of writing nonfiction of your life is intriguing. Thanks for letting us read this.

That was actually really interesting. You're a very talented writer (as you've probably heard by now).

It takes skill to make something boring/day-to-day worth reading, you know.

    Did I do it write?

Is one not allowed to do that? To express that they agree with the message of a blog post because they find it good advice for any aspiring writer? If not, please, enlighten me.

No, that's what I mean. People should write outside of their comfort zone, and explore all the different subjects to write about and genres to write in. It's fun to explore writing

It might be a slight misinterpretation, but your comparison to the crossover thread reminds me of something I've thought in regard to said this type of fanfiction. They're often written with that one "awesome" moment in mind where two protagonists from different series tag-team an overpowered villain, or when characters from one series get their minds blown by the exposition of their counterparts.

Compare that to your story "What I See," where there is a badass moment of Shiki taking off his blindfold and going nuts, as well as a moment where Shirou shows up nonchalantly like a badass. These came across as the kind of action scenes you would see in a trailer- something easily kept in mind when planning such a story. Those moments, however, aren't the focus. Most of the story was Shiki and Rin getting to know each other- simple character interaction (along with plenty of lore references). I think this is what a good crossover needs, more often than not. How do these characters interact? Something Nasu said about Shiki and Shirou not getting along also makes me consider their interaction more carefully than I would interactions between different characters.

Also, something else I got from this is that you shouldn't be afraid to experiment with writing. I agree. Writing something nonsensical and oddly out-of-intended-genre is still better than giving into procrastination. I'm not saying anything one writes will be good just because they try something different, but I don't think it really hurts a writer to experiment.

She dies in the novel because Rin goes to find her, finds creepy building, is ambushed by tentacles, and is saved by rape beetles, and that's it. Her friend is still "missing."

She lives in the animu because the writers of the show decided they were gonna dedicate that single chapter to an entire episode, so they had to do stuff or the episode would be like ten minutes long.

Really, neither Nasu nor Gen has anything to do with the cat in the box this time.

Also, I read Stephen King's book "On Writing." (well, more like I'm still reading it...) One of his major tips was to read read read. It helps formulate ideas and your writing.
