Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggg hhhh!

The most recent translated chapters of Linebarrels of Iron overloaded my brain. Excuse me while I bash my head against the wall in the mere attempt to comprehend them.

...let alone work them into my story. This has made my inclusion of Dust of Osiris impossible, and may have rendered the possibility of it even being crossed over with the Fate-timed Nasuverse impossible.

Spoiler:
The damn thing really takes place in 2712! There was never any coming back from the future in the first place! It was all a lie!

The stupid Machina have been deceiving humanity into thinking it was almost seven hundred years in the past. How in the hell can I work around this? No amount of information control could make even magecraft be unable to discern the real date! Plus all of humanity are descendants of these Frankensteinian
things that the Machina stitched together from the corpses of those that had died from the extinction-disaster-apocalypse-thing! HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK!?

Even giant robots are playing god now!

EVERYTHING WE ALL KNOW IS NOTHING BUT LIES!!!

The seven celestial gods! The world created by the hands of the gods... Everything is false, everything is a lie! The final days have come... Now, let everything be destroyed!

Yeah, that does make it rather difficult, doesn't it....

I guess "ignore it" is always an option, although I'm probably only saying that because the part I'm interested in is the Nasuverse part and not the Linebarrels part....

    Spoiler:
Personally, I don't think that the "date" thing is that much of an issue, excepting perhaps if you talk to Aoko (or Zelretch, I guess...). There's no way to tell what date it is without some sort of reference point, because dates are an entirely man-made construct. You could find evidence of a past civilisation, yes, but there's no way you'd know it was really the year 2712 and not 2012, and nor is that statement even particularly meaningful....

The whole "everyone being descended from stitched-together corpses" thing is a lot harder to reconcile with the Nasuverse, though, because of how magi work. You'd have to give said corpses the soul of a magus, somehow. And, of course, it makes long-lived characters like Zouken very hard to involve in any meaningful way.

Well, I am attempting to work with this. While this is quite difficult, it is not impossible.

So far I have a magical conspiracy, middle-aged Rin with a pistol, and Zelretch punching out the moon again.
