I've had a sort of rough last few weeks. My work has been requiring extra
overtime (a lot of it) and my father has been in and out of the hospital
like a revolving door. I've been stressed, angry, sick, and depressed.

One day at work when I was feeling particularly bad, I randomly checked BL.

Lo and behold, someone wrote a glowing review on "Utopia" after finding it
on TV tropes. Heck, they even went through and linked where all the
individual chapters were for future readers. That one gesture made my day
and reminded me why I do what I do.

I maybe awkward as all get out in real life, except speaking in front of a
crowd oddly, but at least on line I'm appreciated. I have friends. Hell, I
have fans. It's kind of really sad, but my closest friends are on line and
a lot of them I've met here on BL.

I really don't have that many friends in person. There are friends of my
husband's that I see constantly, but I know without him I doubt they'd
associate with me. And a lot of those friends are having kids while we're
having trouble conceiving. I feel left out and alone a lot in RL, and I
feel somewhat appreciated and liked on-line.

So, thanks guys, you all really mean a lot to me.

    We definitely appreciate you, Elf! You're a fantastic, clever writer, and you're a great addition to the forum. It'd be really sad to not have someone like you around here.

    Y'know, a lot of this really resonated with me. I've sort of fallen out of touch with people over the years, so to have friends even online is a much appreciated thing. But seriously Elf, I'm glad that we're here for you.
