Riverside Vacation Fun

Six days without internet is surprisingly enjoyable when on vacation. Earlier today my family and I finally got home from our yearly trip to the Frio River we take every year. No internet on account of no service in that area unfortunately. The river was at an okay height in comparison to most years. It's been higher but it's also been much lower and was reasonably nice to float on, though not on the last day since it started raining.
The trip itself was a bit longer than usual, around six and a half or so hours instead of the usual five. The cabin wasn't one of the better ones we've stayed at either, but was mostly fine. Though the bunk bed my sister and I had to share was downright painful and a massive window with no blinds shone light directly on us as soon as the sun rose. And of course there's the inevitable sunburn I always get on these trips but that's to be expected.
The trip back was somewhat more noteworthy than usual since we stopped in San Antonio early in the afternoon instead of going the whole way home in a day. The hotel we stayed at was lovely and led out directly to the riverwalk. While the river itself was brown and not the prettiest, the buildings around it and the massive trees around it were beatiful. Also there were many ducks and they were adorable. Also entirely unafraid of people unlike the ones back home. We visited the Alamo for a bit before it started raining quite hard. We were stuff on the sidewalk for a bit before getting a taxi, the only time in my life I can recall actually riding in a taxi.
After a while the rain let up and we left the hotel to eat. We had dinner at a place called Dick's Last Resort which was a fairly large place where the waiters, waitresses and bartenders are all rude to customers and the customers are encouraged to do the same. They also make everybody large paper hats with unkind monikers on them, some of which were amusing. The wait was kind of long but it was completely packed and the actual food was fantastic. Afterwards my parents, sister and I went back to the hotel while my half-sister and her girlfriend apparently went off for a bit to go to a bar/strip club. We could only get two rooms so I paired up with my half-sister and her girlfriend who came back relatively soon. Only one bed for the three of us, but it was large enough that it wasn't an issue. We eventually went to bed sometime around midnight after watching TV and my half-sister trying to get me to try a tequila. The bed was wonderful.
This morning we ate at some Mexican restaurant I don't recall the name of. I don't really like Mexican food so I just got bacon and eggs with potatoes. The view was nice and the waitress was nice and looked horrifyingly embarrassed when she dropped my plate, but another one was made quickly so it wasn't much of await. Finally, we left the hotel and got home in somewhere around four hours. Amusingly, Irecall the bit in San Antonio more so than the main portion of the trip at the Frio River. It was a good trip all things considered. I hadn't been to San Antonio in 5 years and kind of forgot how much I liked it.
