Soooo... I tried writing something.

Remember when I said I had a new project in mind? This is it:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/239151

Above is a link to my first ever attempt to publish something that will be sold for what we in the literature business (SUCH AS MYSELF!) refer to as 'money'. This is the Smashwords version; an Amazon version will be available as soon as it passes through their formatting, so by this time tomorrow it will definitely be here and I will post it.

The description as I used it there:

'The world of the supernatural is a place of intense horror and blood-chilling danger. Dark, twisted monsters stalk among humanity from the shadows, seeking only to devour us.

Seems like somebody should make some money from all that, right?

Enter Eric Margrave, semi-professional monster hunter (He'd be a professional, but they really don't have a certification process for this sort of thing.). When the things that go bump in the night start actually knocking on the door, he's the one who serves them their walking papers... for a nominal fee. Prices negotiable. No demons, please.

In his debut appearance, Eric has entered the exciting world of real-estate, looking to set up a new safehouse. Good news: the house is haunted, and therefore a steal at the current price if you happen to know how to work an exorcism. Bad news... well, the house might be a bit more aggressively haunted than even a freelance slayer of the paranormal is used to... '

If that piques your interest, I hope you're willing to give the novella a try. A free sample is on the site, of course, and it's only $1.99 for the finished product. Less than most restaurants charge for a cheeseburger, to get a 25,000+ word novella? Not bad. Give it a try, you might like it! And reviews are love.

There are more stories to come, as well. A second in final formatting, and a third nearing completion!

Oh, and on an unrelated note... the more of my original fiction gets bought, the more free time I'll have to update fanfiction.

Not that I'm bribing y'all or anything.

UPDATE:

The amazon version is now live here!

Bought (for all that the website's location selector apparently doesn't know about the existence of the UK this is a lie, it's just in a stupid place). I gift you a little bit of trust in your writing and a little bit of money because of that trust.

I live near Stanton Harcourt. An ex of mine lives in it. Why is your ghost called Harcourt Stanfield?! *scared*

"protecting the family that lives there malevolent spirits and black magic" - a missing 'from' seems to have slipped past editing.

Aaaand done. That was a pleasant half hour or so. Thank you! (And if some follow-ups show more of the two protagonists interacting, I shall be very happy indeed).

    Other people, buy it!

Thank you kindly! I'll see about getting that editing mistake taken down after work tonight. ^_^

Seems interesting. Might have to pick this up.

And because of your avatar I cannot help but imagine this was written by dapper Zouken sitting at a typewriter.

Gotta admit, this premise interests me. The concept in itself has been seen before, but it's the way you present it that has me intrigued. In a world full of supernatural horrors, one guy is just trying to make a buck. It has a nice, irreverent feel to it.

Also, you do snark and irreverence really, really well.

I should really finish the Dresden Files and Percy Jackson, but this has hooked my interest. If nothing else I'll be keeping an eye on this for the future.

Yay and congratulations! Welcome to the club, I hope it goes well and . . . We have a Kindle. I just have no idea how to use it.

Are Kindles really that popular these days? No one in my family owns one.

Then again, we also kept a TV for over a decade because it was still functional, and avoid buying IPods, Smart phones, and the like because we don't like paying extra fees every month. We never even bought cable, and now we don't bother with broadcast.

But seriously, are Kindles that popular?

Okay, I don't have a Kindle, so I can't do the Amazon one. (Yes, Hymn, they are that popular)

Do I have to make an account with Smashwords to buy this thing? Gah. Okay, sometime tomorrow.

Damnation. And curse you technology, for making me feel more like a redneck!

Guess it's pdf or nothing for me.

I don't have a Kindle myself. I just use this app for my computer.

And according to a friend of mine, some versions of Firefox can handle Kindle e-books too? I use Chrome, so I can't confirm that one.

Huh. I'm using a Mac and I never got around to partitioning it to have Windows so I'll need to find a Mac friendly version, but I can look into this further. Thanks.

Oh wait, Mac version is two links away via the Kindle apps link at the bottom. Derp. That was easy.

    OKay, you tried writing something.

    You succeeded, holy crap.

Unfortunately, I have to wait a little while before Amazon will let me throw a review up on the page.

    Hee hee, thank you! ^^

I'm really glad. There hasn't been a whole lot of response, but what I'm getting is quite positive. Thanks to everyone for your support.
