H Otome Game

Rate this Entry
You know, if I had an artist, I had a really cool idea for an H Otome Game. Why Otome you ask? Well so I can have a bunch of hot guys having sex with an attractive girl. Not all at once mind you. With pretty artwork where both parties can be seen!

Just, I don't have an artist sadly.

I do like the idea of an Otome H game, but they're not that many out there. I do have some artwork from a very nice one, and its some of the best porn H stuff I've ever seen. (Honestly, FSN's H scenes are sort of Otome-ish because in a lot of the art you can see Shirou's face in the H-scenes. At least more than with a normal VN.)

Girls have sex drives too. They like to read porn and having the visuals to back it up is just icing on the cake.

It would be an urban fantasy idea, the choice of heroes would be a werewolf knight type, a vampire lord, a dhampire hunter, an Unseelie faerie guy, and the unlockable hero would be the normal guy she goes to college with.

Depending on the hero, the story line and H-scenes would be different. Like the werewolf guy would get an H-scene with him in his werewolf form and so on and so forth. Just wanting to appeal to a broad audience.

So, just sort of random from me.

Although I don't know the franchise, the idea sounds pretty cool, an H-game/dating sim where the genders are reversed would certainly be a breath of fresh air.

The only problem for this would be the audience, the market for these games don't have a lot of girls. So, the only way I see this being successful is if the heroine is such a likeable, attractive and wonderful girl that she immediately eclipses everyone's waifu.

It would be an original setting. Possibly something like the Law Unto Herself verse with a few differences there.

But without being a Mary Sue. That would be the tricky part honestly. The thing of it is I would need an artist who would be comfortable doing this sort of stuff. (And isn't squeamish with blood scenes. Come on, two of the heroes would be vampiric in nature.)

Otome games can appeal to guys; just make sure the heroine is sexy, and there are other girls besides just her. Guys in visual novels usually aren't that interesting, since they're generally either the generic main character or the generic main character's best friend, without much variation.

Oh the heroine was going to be sexy (come on, it's me, I like girls just as much as I love guys), and I would have other female characters as well. Including an altruistic half sister amongst others.

Just the one thing I would do would be that she wouldn't be the natural bad ass that say, Forest is. She'd be snarky, but she'd be possibly more of a cerebral heroine.

    Otome games can be okay.

Interesting that you mention "both parties being seen" because in my experience otome game heroines are even more "blank slate" than the male equivalent. No face, not voiced, you name her yourself, a lot of the time they don't even speak and the whole game is dudes talking at you. Like I played one that was actually pretty good (Amnesia) but for no apparent reason the heroine didn't speak for 90% of the game so you had this invisible spirit kid sidekick who basically existed to react to everything for you. Also in what I've played of Arcana Famiglia I don't think the girl has spoken (outside of choices) even once. Why do none of her dozen suitors seem concerned by this?

Which is not to say I think ~snarky~ main characters are a good idea either mind you, but eh.

The only problem for this would be the audience, the market for these games don't have a lot of girls.
I'm pretty sure the market for otome games is 99.9% female, dude.

There was one I saw, that I saved a lot of the CGs from, that both parties were very well defined, male and female. The girl was very beautiful, sort of a classic blond and the guys ranged from attractive to . . . green eyed version of Archer with metrosexual hair and elf ears. Just what I read of the story made me go , "What the fuck?"

There was some sort of time loop.

If I did do this, I would go full on Urban Fantasy Romance with it. Capable heroine, tortured heroes (except for maybe the werewolf guy and the normal human guy) but they have senses of humor too, and have a few Bad Ends as well. Just the thing would be how to handle the heroine. I can write strong female characters, that's not a problem, but she'd be different than the quippy vampire girl with gun than I normally do.

I find just about any porn I've read from the girl's perspective is like super duper ultra hot. I don't even know why, and there really aren't enough h doujins/manga written from their perspective, which is lame because maaaan do I love it. (Maybe this is why I like NTR so much since it's almost always from the girls' perspective instead of the guys, holy shit I never thought of that until now) There's lots of like, literary porn and stuff from the girl's perspective, but I'm mega picky with written porn, and I'm much more visual. If I'm not familiar with the characters then I'd rather just have something to look at.

I wish I knew some good translated otome games. I'd read the fuck outta those. I'm not too interested in the hero selection up there, but I'd probably be all over an otome game written by you, Elf.

To be dead honest, I like using female protagonists more than male protagonists (especially for the central characters) precisely because it's a twist on the male-centric formula. Also because I believe the world is full of plenty of testosterone but not nearly as many female characters who can stand on their own and don't need some guy hovering over their shoulders. Of course, then I go and throw in my fair share of yuri as well, because that's what I like. But I could very easily do straight stuff, so it's not a breaking choice for me.

To be honest, I'd love to get some original work out there, but as you said, the curse of the lack of an artist is a bad one. A friend of mine went looking for an artist for a project he was considering and the prices some of them were asking were really ridiculous - we're talking like $30 for a 200x200 image.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I could see paying for the work, but if I have to pay like a grand or $1500 to get a VN produced, that's really very rough stuff.

(PS: If anyone's interested in taking me up on these offers or doing original work with me, don't hesitate to contact me! I've got the writing chops if you've got the drawing chops, I can guarantee that!)

I think he meant the market for VNs in general, not especifically otome games.

Or you can always pull a Ryuukishi07 and have artwork so bad that's good.

And the idea of an otome game written by Elf pleases me very much.

Finding a good artist for such a project is the biggest hurdle.

For every 50 wannabe VN writers there is 1 wannabe VN artist.

For every 50 wannabe VN writers there is 1 who could actually write a VN.

Well, obviously the OELVN market has what, 20 titles :V

Also Idea Guys are not too keen on the idea of paying artists, so there's that too.

This is why you should write most of the novel and sell it to an artist. Someone will be interested by the concept and work on it free!

Pray it is someone who does good stuff =V

Already working on that, but I'm luring her in with sweets and promises of plenty of steamy yuri to draw.
