Arthurian HF?

Rate this Entry
I was drawing a picture of sakura sitting on a chair looking out a open window (mostly for background practice) and I thought 'Why don't I add Shirou saving Sakura like a prince?". So I did and then while I was sketching I came up with this little story. It's set in the legend of King Arthur. Shirou is one of the Knights of the Round Table, and Sakura's situation is pretty much the same in as in FSN but it ends more tragically (Well compared to HF true I guess)

-----
"The princess in the tower"

The second born daughter of the Tohsaka family given away to the Matou's as payment for the Matou family assisting the Tohsakas long ago. After being taken into the home she was subjected to years of torture and turned into a monster by Zouken. She was locked up in a tower and forbidden from having any contact with anyone.

One day while looking out the window of her prison. She sees that several knights lost inside the forest surrounding the Matou castle. She decides to help them so she draws out a map of the path out of the forest and slips it to her ever-faithful maid, Medusa. Sakura tells Medusa that she can't tell the Knights that the map is from her.

Medusa gives the map to the Knights. When they attempt to thank her she tells then that she wasn't the one who helped them but the princess locked up in the tower. When Sir Emiya asks if he can see her and thank her in person the maid replies that she is not allowed to see anyone "...But I don't think firing an arrow into the sill of her window counts as seeing does it?". Then returns to the Castle.

The next day Sir Emiya returns to the Matou's forest with his bow and fires a thank you message to Sakura. Sakura peeks out her window and waves at him then retreats back into her room. With only that quick glance it starts Sir Emiya's quest to save her from her life of being locked up in that tower.

He first attempts to go start up to the Matou castle and ask why she is locked up and for her freedom but is stopped by Shinji. Who's ass he promptly kicks. He is escorted out of the Castle by Medusa and learns of Sakura's situation and how futile it would be to even try to save and how Medusa only wanted a friend for Sakura.

Sir Emiya takes out a piece of paper and writes down a message for Sakura which asks for Medusa to deliver to Sakura. For a long while Medusa acts as a messenger between the two.Over that time the two grew very close to each other. One day Medusa does not show up at all with a message. So Shirou waits all day for her to show up.

But by the time night falls Meduas had still not shown up with a message so Shirou decides to leave. As he leaves the forest he is attacked by some kind of monster he kills it quickly. As he inspects the beasts corspe he discovers to his horror that the warped body is that of Medusa.

Shirou races back to his home and plans to save Sakura himself. During the early dawn hours he scaled the tower to Sakura's room. He grabs her and the two of them flee from the forest. But as they reach the exit the two of them were attacked by giant worms and recaptured.

Zouken freed Sir Emiya becuase he did not wish to bring the wrath of King Arthur upon him for killing one of his Knights. Sir Emiya whispered ot Sakura that he swore he would free her and then left.

Shirou attempted to fire and arrow into her window but received no response from Sakura as she had been moved from her tower to somewhere else in the castle.

And the two never met again.

------

I'll finish this tommorow I'm too sleepy now to continue writing.

Now to finish this up. This part takes place after the first and around the time King Arthur is getting ready to head out to Rome (?)...

Also, like in FSN Arthur is a chick in disguise. But I'm going to refer to her as 'him' because it's from Sir Emiya's perspective (or the author is only following him) and he doesn't know he is a she.
--------

"The Monster"

Sir Emiya is standing out in the royal garden, spaced out. King Arthur walks up behind him and calls him several time but is not answered. Then he shakes Sir Emiya and asks him what is wrong.

Sir Emiya says that nothing is wrong but in truth he hasn't been getting much rest because every night he has nightmares about Sakura and what's happening to her. He hasn't gotten much sleep in ages.

During that night he couldn't take the constant torture of not knowing Sakura's fate so he left he in a hurry. But as he was exiting he ran into a girl who was walking around the castle. He had never seen this girl before so he went and questioned what she was doing around the castle.

The girl introduced herself as 'Arturia' and said that she was a lady-in-waiting for Guinvere. This all seemed fine to Sir Emiya so he continued on his way but was stopped when Arturia asked her own questions.

"Is something wrong? You look half-dead"

Before his better sense was able to kick in he began to pour out the whole situation he was in. About Sakura, about how they shared messages, about what happened to Rider, and the nightmares that he has had since. He told her that he was going to see if Sakura had been moved back to her tower.

Arturia warned Sir Emiya agaisnts doing so because Zouken was extremely dangerous and that he would be killed. Sir Emiya disreagarded citeing all the other times he had gone there safely and if there was any danger he would be more than prepared for it.

Artuira attempted to once again warn him and said that he should take up an audience with the King. Sir Emiya replied to her that the King would not bother himself with such a petty issue and left her.

As Sir Emiya travelled through the forest to the Matou's castle he felt an evil presence stalk him through the woods. The creature that followed him didn't do anything but stalk him closely as he travelled through the woods.

As time went on Sir Emiya became more and more unerved by the presence that stalked him. When the distance between him and the castle became even more shorter he creature began to speak saying "turn back" and "She's gone" in a soft whisper that grew increasingly louder as the distance shrunk. When Shirou finally reach the area where he fired arrows to Sakura before the creastures whispers had turned in a roars that echoed throughout all the forest.

As Shirou cocked his down and was about to fire the creature leaped out of the forest knocking him over. It snatched his bow and arrows and darted back into the woods. As Sir Emiya got up he heard from the ofest the sound of his bow being eating. When the sound of shewing stopped the creatures red eyes turned to Emiya and began to chant "leave" over and over. It's shining red eyes got closer and closer to him.

His danger senses screaming he leaped upon his horse and dashed out of the Matou's forest.

That's the end of this part for now. There will be more later on~ My hands hurt :'3

Aww, poor Sakura, she needs saving.

Why was Zouken torturing her, though? I don't see what he gains from that, or why Tokiomi would give her away if that was his intention.

@Mike1984: Zouken was torturing Sakura for to 'break' her basically make he submissive so he could do whetaever he wants with her with little chance of her fighting back.

Tokiomi had no choice but to give Sakura away because a long time ago the Tohsakas asked the Matou for assistance but to get the Matous assistance they had to make a deal that sometime down the road if the Matous (Zouken) need anything that they have to give it to them (him) with no questions asked. Tokiomi was left with give his daughter away or have his whole family destroyed by breaking the pact.

Excuse me while I bite my hanky Lilirulu!

I'm a sap for the Knight-saving-Princess narrative in spite of its sexism, and I'm also a sucker for delicious tragedy. You've hit both of those buttons! Good show!

But he's not doing anything with her, so I don't see why that matters.

Tokiomi had no choice but to give Sakura away because a long time ago the Tohsakas asked the Matou for assistance but to get the Matous assistance they had to make a deal that sometime down the road if the Matous (Zouken) need anything that they have to give it to them (him) with no questions asked. So he just sacrificed her to save himself (and Rin, I guess) without making any effort to ensure her well-being.

    What an asshole....

    @LunarLegend: Thanks :3

@Mike1984: Zouken is doing something with Sakura. I'm not finished writing out the summary but he didn't just ask for a little girl from a prestigious family to rape and torture for the lulz.

And me and you have a very different view on what constitutes as 'asshole'. If Tokiomi DIDN'T give Sakura to the Matous then him, Aoi, Rin & Sakura would suffer from the curse of the pact. Tokiomi didn't want to give away one of his daughters to Zouken (because one Zouken is creepy and evil and two that's one less dowry for him) but he had to and Zouken most definitely told Tokiomi that he can't check up on Sakura (becuase if he didn't then he wouldn't be able to do what he is doing to Sakura).

It's awful but Tokiomi was left between a rock and a damned spiked wall. It's either he sacrificed one for the many or he didn't and they all perished.

Must we rationalize why? He's evil! This is simple knight-in-shining-armor fairy tale schtick here! Zouken captures and tortures the princess because he is evil and that is what evil does in these tales.

Moral depth? Pah! Good is good because it is defined by what it does, as likewise for wickedness.

If the plot says the suffering the heroine is mandatory, then who are we as an audience to deny it?

Sorry, but he should have bloody well looked for an alternative, not thrown his own fucking daughter to the wolves. Find a way around the fucking pact, go tell someone else to check up on her, anything. He's just too fucking stupidly Lawful to even consider such things, even when the alternative is leaving his fucking daughter to be tortured.

So, I repeat, he is a total and utter asshole. If he were not, he would not have thrown his own daughter to the wolves in that way.

    @LunarLegend: ... It's staring into my soul....

Also, I updated the story again last night for anybody who is following this.

@Mike1984: There is no alternative. If there were an alternative I'm pretty damn sure Tokiomi would take it (because again he's just lost not only one of his children to some extremely creepy bastard but he's also lost the dowry that comes along with it). The only option would be to break the pact made between the Tohsakas and the Matous which would most likely destroy his family.

His 'Lawful'-ness has nothing to do with this. His ancestors made a magic pact that could never ever be broken and when the Matous come calling he has to do whatever the Matous want or suffer the horrible consequences.

He could find a way. He should have bloody well tried, rather than sacrificing his own daughter to a life of suffering. Even if he couldn't prevent himself being force to hand her over, he should have looked for some way to save her, rather than writing her off as a lost cause and leaving her to be tortured for her entire life.

He should have put everything he had into looking for some way to free her. Not just handed her over and then forgotten about her.

@Mike1984: But your assuming he didn't... Here Word of God; Tokiomi did indeed look for a way to not have to give Sakura away but there was absolutely no other option then too.

And he couldn't free her either because Zouken wouldn't let (or any memeber of the Tohsaka house) anywear near his forest. In fact when Shirou attempted to free Sakura. Zouken thought that Tokiomi had sent him so he killed several of Tokiomi's Servants and Horses.

Well, couldn't Tokiomi have found someone else to go looking for her, outside of the house? I'm sure there are plenty of valliant knights who would do so....
