Elf's Random Musings

Der Blocken Stucken

So, I have a problem, or it could be a really good thing, maybe a bad thing for some of my readers.

Last few days when I've sat down to write fanfics have been the last thing on my mine. I finished the one for the contest and I had a lot of fun with it, but when I try to work on H&B and Utopia I can't. I end up working on "Scream Queen" or today I started my story for one of the anthologies I want to try for. I'll try to write for one of the fanfics and it just ends . . . well with nothing done.

I don't know if it's lack of inspiration or what, but until this Fandom Block passes there may not be an update on anything as I do what I should: focus on my writing career.

However if you like my fics go check my in progress novel. Please. Before I stop doing updates on it unless I'm privately asked.

I'm doing so! Slowly! Just like with everything else! So much backlog, so little attention span! And even worse than that...

    Procrastination, hooooooooo!

Me first! Because really, once I hit chapter six I'm going to stop posting it. Teaser's done. I'll ask for a group of beta testers before handing it off to Roadbuster once its finished. However once I start submitting it to publishers I'm deleting the thread.

    I know that feel, Elf. ;_;

Funny enough, it wasn't at all difficult to write my novel. In both August and November I managed to write down a while 50k words, and wrote nearly as much spread out across the other months I wrote it. Of course, that left me with a backlog big enough to leave me with stuff left to post even up until now.

Not that it matters, of course; I'm not really going to be revisiting this until maybe even a year from now.

In a way, I think my mind might still be tired out from writing that big fic for Leo a while back; ever since then it feels like I've been only writing slower all the time.

Yep, know that feeling. It happened to me for a year or so. I opened the document, read what I had written, stared at the monitor for a couple of minutes and then I knew I wasn't going to write.

It's probably something akin to burn out without it feeling like one. It should pass, in a couple of days, weeks. Just pray that they are not months.

Well, I was going to read your fic, but I guess I probably shouldn't bother, really....

Ouch. A block is never fun.

Sounds to me like you're just a little burned out. I think we've all been there before. Like Laith said, it usually passes after a certain amount of time and the spark starts to come back. I'll still be around to read when you start updating again, and I'm enjoying what you've done for your novel!

Yipes. Oh, here's a question for you, Elf.

Are you going to make it available only in paper, or will you e-publish?

It just depends on what the publisher wants. Most smaller ones do e-books as well as paper.

As for the beta copies that will obviously be digital.
