668 - Neighbor of the Beast

The Tick-Tock Principle

Rate this Entry

An idle thought.

An idle dream.
An idle promise.

For one who keeps on going, and going.

Always was ticking.
Never saw stopping.
No sense slowing.

Hanging on, one moment at a time.

But never staying.

It's always turning.
Can't stop flowing.

No matter how important the memory is.

Doomed to action.
In one motion.
Never changing direction.

There is no past, or present for it.

Just the here.
Just the moment.
Just the now.

And for once, it would like to let go.

To be free.
To be spontaneous.
To be chaotic.

But that is not to be.

It is damned.
It is blessed.
It is eternal.

When everything else is none but dust,

It shall be.
It always has.
It always will.

Long after the laughter dies.

It remains there.
King of all.
King of none.

Doomed to rule the subjects of death.

Such is fate.
No use complaining.
It's alright, then.

They have always taken it with pride.

Who else could?
Who else would?
Who else should?

For none are suited better than they.

So march on.
So soldier on.
So hike on.

Towards your eventual, earned freedom.

Then, one day

It can rest———

We have since I implemented a BBCode for it, yes.

It does rely on HTML5's <audio> tag, so older/shittier browsers won't display it properly (like the Cat Hell gag which used the same stuff).

And for the curious, I did the music as well. Granted, there's already an official OCRemix of that song, so I can't submit mine... but I still think it was the best work I've did futzing around with MIDI files.

Reminds me of the odd stares I got reading House of Leaves at work.

...Yes, there's a reason I have the book upside down...
