Why so girly KuKu Hulan? + Why didn't Nasu just make the grail 'disguise' the servants?

One thing I wonder about the Holy Grail is why it doesn't disguise the servants appearance? I'm kinda surprised Nasu didn't do it. (I thought it did do it at first...)

It would have gave him (and/or Takeuchi) unlimited design freedom for the servants, barring important characteristics (like Zero!Lancer's mole, Hercules Muscles, Etc.). And it makes sense to have it too.

Servants are given whatever information they need on other heroes, right? So if a servant were to have images of them (Shakespeare), Blatantly obvious characteristics (Zero!Lancer). Though there being images of servants might not be a major problem for most, and having defining characteristics might not be too bad for most.

    Uh, dunno what exactly you're saying. They didn't have unlimited design freedom to make Servants look like they wanted? Cu wears blue spandex, Gilgamesh is a blond white guy, Gilles looks like he's part fish and belongs in a circus, Medusa is wearing a miniskirt, and King Arthur is a chick. I'm pretty sure they did design them however they wanted.

    @Arashi: Well I meant that they would have an excuse for why they look that way. Though I guess it doesn't really matter because nasu/takeuchi really just didn't give a damn anyways~

    The whole, the legends get things wrong thing that gets thrown around. I think it was the excuse for Saber's gender thing, but yeah, they do have a tiny excuse.

    Eh, the nerdy explanation goes for a lot, like, Celtic berserkers supposedly wore blue bodypaint and Gil is partially divine, so yeah. Who knows if Nasu and Takeuchi thought that deeply, though.

    Miniskirt Medusa really has no excuse other than it looks hot.

    Well, there are many different variations on how Cu was described. In one version he had multicolored hair. Another he had hair like a raven's wing. Another one I remember encountering had him fair haired. However one thing was pretty much always the same: Cu was gorgeous.

    Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that Lancer's more "handsome" than "Pretty Boy", but by all rights he should have been the pretty boy of FSN.

    It's also funny that even if he's supposed to be gorgeous, every description of his facial features makes him sound like an unholy abomination, painted in the colors of the rainbow.

    Pretty much every hero gets described as being impossibly gorgeous. Cuchulain's writers just took it up to Mary Sue levels of description. :P
