Rate this Entry
Now is the time for wild takes, and I come with one such take.

I present for consideration: Grand Saber.

Enjoy.

----------------------------------------------------

It began with his father.

He had distinguished himself against the Saxons.

Aiding in quelling the rebellion his father had started however garnered Arthur’s attention.

Immediately after he was knighted alongside his brother.

An honor he holds in his heart to this day.

Next was Lamorak’s treachery.

Soiling his mother through base seduction.

He should have killed him there but his mother forbade it so he abided.

Then, when Lamorak was alone, he attempted to seek justice.

Lamorak had to be put down when that was only met with violence.

Then came the worst of all.

The rebellion of Mordred.

Then he knew.

He had to stop the source of the spell.

He killed his mother to honor the name…

Greetings, Master! Servant Assassin, reporting for duty!... Now. Let's see how I may be of service, hmmm?

History

I don't know when it happened.

When I started realizing my own hypocrisy.

Was it when Mordred slew my queen? Was it my mother's response to the rebellion...?

...

Did I always realize it?

Perhaps.

I always wondered why my father so foolishly and single-mindedly sought rebellion and chaos. I assumed he was controlled... and perhaps he was.

I blamed Lamorak for my mother's infidelity.... but I suppose deep down I knew the truth. If I was unafraid of the truth, I wouldn't have arranged for his murder with my kin.

Then my sisters rebellion. I didn't know she was at the time, but It always bothered me. Why Mordred suddenly... snapped. What prompted such a change?...

I knew the answer because I went directly to mother. Rather than ride to inform my king, I went to my mother.

Her response... yes... it didn't reveal a thing.

All it did was make me unable to look away from my own shame any longer.

'Knight of Chivalry'.

I suppose that was 'true' in the most technical sense.

I however can no longer take pride in it.

After being exposed to my own shame, my open hypocrisy, that title is little more than a mockery.

Mockery that I justly deserve for allowing Camelot to fall.

Class Skills

Presence Concealment
D++

Despite his class, Gaheris is terrible at proper stealth. As a knight he rarely ever employed such tactics himself, leading to this skills low rank. Despite this however there are exceptions. Should he ever utilize it against Lamorak or Morgan, this skills rank increases significantly. Perhaps not enough to escape full notice, especially before attacking, but enough that he might be able to catch them unaware.

otherwise most servants will immediately detect his presence.

Riding
C

A skill natural to the knights of the round table.

With only a little training and intuition, Gaheris can ride any animal capable of being ridden and operate any vehicle.

Magic Resistance
D++

Due to his conflict and triumph over his mother, Morgana le faye, he has this class skill regardless of class. In this class however, it is only strong enough to nullify weak spells. Not even facing his mother increases the strength of this skill.

However releasing his noble phantasm does increase the rank of this skill, several times over even.

At that point his magic resistance makes him totally immune to all magecraft but Greater Magecraft.

Personal Skills
Knight of Chivalry
D+++

A combination skill of 'Heroic Great Principles' and 'Espionage' but with requirements that must be met before he receives their benefits.

Specifically he must live up to his title as 'Knight of Chivalry'.

As he is a Gaheris that acknowledges his sin, this skill begins sealed. The more he comes to terms with his past, the less his smile is fake, and the more his actions are taken out of a genuine desire to do good, the more he benefits from this skill.

The ultimate benefit, beyond gaining 'Heroic Great Principles' and 'Espionage' at D+ rank, is being able to utilize his noble phantasm "Blade of Shining Virtue: Dyrnwyn"

Knight's Strategy
B

The strategy of a knight; to fight defensively until that precise opening that one can capitalize fully on.

He did not deal the final blow to Lamorak but he was the one to notice and reveal it. However he failed to capitalize... instead, that honor would go to Mordred. If this was the only instance in his legend of this tactic, he'd have it at a low rank. Instead however it is a pattern with fights he is in.

He endures his enemies, then finishes the fight with a single strike.

Instinct
A

A skill to denote a servants heightened battle instincts.

Gaheris has displayed his own great battle instincts. He predicted the Saxons actions and distinguished himself in battle against them. He effortlessly navigated the battle lines during his fathers rebellion. He escaped thirty hours of conflict against Lamorak unscathed. Even against his mother, his soul dimmed and his sword darkened, his instincts allowed him to prevail.

Gaheris' battle instinct is so great as to be precognition.

Personality

Knight of Chivalry.

Despite this title, Gaheris does not entirely act like this. At least, not completely.

He wears a fake smile. He speaks false positivity. He portrays false optimism.

His cheery attitude is wholly fake. He does not believe himself to be a good person and believes only that he isn't worthy of his title. Despite his outward persona being false, he is not exactly a liar. If the topic is ever broached, he tells honestly what his sin is and acknowledges that he did it. He, in his own words, smiles only so that those he does manage to save don't feel the burden he feels.

As a war goes on and his master cooperates with him, his old chivalrous self may start to return as he works past his doubts about who he really is.

Interactions

Artoria Pendragon
(Any)

... My liege. I'm sorry I failed you... You placed such hopes in me and yet... but nevermind that. Right now, I have something to do. Please... don't get in my way.

Gawain
... You've changed, brother. I have too however. It is good to see you. If you'll excuse me...

Agravain
Brother, you look tired. You should remember to rest... not that I have any say. Perhaps if I'd had your work ethic...

Gareth
My, my. Look how far you've come Gareth. I'm so proud. I wish... I wish I'd told you when we lived...

Mordred
... What...? You... you accept responsibility...? then... then what did I do...? please... no... Mordred... did you... really do that of your own will...?

Lamorak
... An unexpected but fortunate encounter we're having, Knight of Lasting. I finally get to say this to you... something I've sought for a while. I'm sorry. For murdering you. It was sinful and contemptible. Your hatred of me... I accept it fully.

Morgan
You're so much like her. So much so that it isn't right... yet I can tell the difference and that is what saves us. Thanks to my keen eye, I am able to control my sword arm.

Noble Phantasm

Sgian-AlchisDyrnwyn
Sword of Faded GloryBlade of Shining Virtue

Type
Anti-UnitAnti-Army

Rank
B

Named after the traditional hunting knife of scottish hunters, its true name is something completely different. He simply cannot utilize his true noble phantasm until certain requirements are met. Until then he only has access to a blackened blade the size of a dagger that cannot even bring to life a spark. The requirements to unlock his noble phantasm are twofold and as follow.

First he must fully benefit from his skill 'Knight of Chivalry'.

Second he must not fight purely for his own benefit.

Once these are accomplished, he can fully utilize his noble phantasm one of the thirteen treasures of britain. Gained due to utilizing it himself several times. When he went after the questing beast, when he saved Gawain and Guinevere, and when he quested for the grail. Each time he requested the blade and Artoria was bound by tradition to grant it.

These quests eventually tied its legend to his own.

Dyrnwyn's blackened, dagger-length blade becomes a shiny steel color and flames form into a blade the length of a longsword and retain their shape and sharpness to that length. Gaheris, in addition to utilizing this noble phantasm as a regular weapon when drawn, can also utilize an Anti-Army attack akin to Gawains own Galatine release. The sole difference would be power; Gaheris' flames can harm servants but could only kill if concentrated into a anti-unit attack.
