Rejected Concept: Magus Killer meets Metal Gear?!

Rate this Entry
I recall a past blog entry that was extremely short and spoke on vague similarities that I had noticed between Kiritsugu Emiya and his life experiences (killing his father, and then killing his mentor figure, a dude who shot bees out of his mouth, bitchin' guns) and certain events behind the Metal Gear series of stories. It got to the point where it evolved into a concept where I had a fanfic idea where, before the events of Fate/Zero, he's called into action to take on a mission that essentially brings him to Outer Heaven to thwart a terrorist uprising.

Where things end up complicated for Kiritsugu is when he finds out that deeper into the facility, the soldiers that he ends up facing are, in fact, vampires. As he penetrates deeper into the complex, he fights various Magi/Dead Apostles with abilities akin to MGS bosses (the aforementioned BEES guy, who in this continuity would not have perished with Natalia in the plane), and a Cyborg Ninja-type character actually ends up being someone from his recent past (probably Maiya, in a scenario where she's actually turned into a vampire and Kiritsugu kills her master to free her, who would have been Shirley or something). And essentially in the end it turns out that the guy in charge is his own father, who didn't die back at Crab Battle Island but Kiritsugu's attempt at murder triggered the formula that he had drank and he ended up becoming a Dead Apostle without the Hunger, and he's got some sort of mechanism to spread that formula but everyone affected from then on would be under his command, and it would probably look like a METAL GEAR?! because why not.

Basically where this died is the fact that I wanted to tie this into Conception/Zero as a sidestory to fill in for the year between Kiritsugu's orders from Acht to summon Saber a year before HGW4, and frankly Saber would wreck the shit out of the entire island. There's also the fact that it ballooned out into an idea with a scope far beyond a side-story that would take only a few entries to convey, and as Conception/Zero is my first shot at this, I'm not confident that I could have done it justice with my attention divided in two. There's also the reputation of sorts that MGS has for being convoluted with twists and turns and silly character relationships that I don't think I would have paid the proper service to.

And, well that's about it, I guess. I'm sure a shot at this kinda merger where it's not connected to Conception/Zero at all and embraces the crack-potential would be much more possible and much more fun to do. I'd like to revisit this kinda thing down the line, but we'll see.

...Crazy idea, to say the least. Though who is Liquid Snake?

Hmm...... Hypothetical sequel where a clone of Kiritsugu is unearthed and starts to bring about the end of the world, Dio Brando style from JoJo arc 3? :P

    EMIYA is Liquid.

Because he "lives on through this arm!"

Making Shirou "just another dead clone of the old man!"

Yeah, I played far, far too much MGS when I was younger.

Aw shit, and it works out too because he's-

Wait, Shirou's not Kiritsugu's biological son.

Well, neither are the Sons to Big Boss, they're more clones than AAAAAAAAND I'm giving this too much thought. DEAD IDEA, DEAD IDEA

It's strange, but there are a number of similarities. What a coincidence.
