IRUn's House of Whatever

Should IRUn Spoil himself for Mahoyo?

Discuss. Is it worth knowing what's in store for the mechanics and and Nasuverse world-building, or should I just wait longer and remain utterly surprised by every single detail in store, which includes the technicalities/magic porn/characters and interactions?

It's simple, IRUn, heads or tails. If you guess wrong, spoil!

I absolutely spoiled myself on Mahoyo, no regrets. I'll still enjoy it in five years when I finally get to read it in English.

Spoil yourself with the soundtrack at least. Kengen/Great Three and Five (not the one above) are awesome.

That's what I'm debating about too, honestly.

Well, you could try asking about the mechanics in the questions thread and avoid the plot....

As someone who did spoil himself, knowing the mechanics will likely wreck parts of the plot already. They're not separable for Mahoyo.

I did spoil myself on AA and find it hard to get really into it despite being a melty blood fanatic, I didnt spoiil myself on extra and loved the hell out of it, far more then most forumites, who I note mostly did.

so, one basic test run says patience will serve you a lot of good, hence why I fight tooth and nail to avoid Mahayo being casually spoilered without warning on questions and so on

Actress Again and Mahoyo are waaaaaay different things, y'know. Most people probably don't even care about the plots to the MB games anymore; they just want to beat other Tsuki characters up.

This seems to be more a personal thing, then, with you, Tobias. I spoiled myself on /EXTRA and I still love it, but I just don't go around talking about it because why should I? I love KnK, but that doesn't mean I have to mention it all the time or anything. And though I usually avoid spoilers like the plague and I'm highly conscious of them, I spoiled /EXTRA for myself and had no problem enjoying it. I've spoiled Mahoyo just the same, and I spoiled Fate/Zero. I loved the latter, and the former will probably be great even though much of it is spoiled to me.

Not to mention the fact that this is literally the first, relatively short installment in what's planned to be a trilogy. Even if you spoil yourself for the first game, there's two more coming that you can avoid if you want.

But I did, and do, play MB for the story and lore, I don't even really like fighting games.

I mean, my longest to to date was a 16k word melty blood fic, so yeah, I actually by a very great deal out of the story of MB and I can't find that now in AA

I spoiled myself for EXTRA and Mahoyo. I still loved EXTRA, enough so that I think it's one of if not my favorite installment in the Fate franchise. I can't comment on my enjoyment of Mahoyo, having not played it, but I will second Leo's notion that spoiling the mechanics of the new concepts introduced into Mahoyo is almost the same as spoiling the story, because the two are intertwined. Though I think this applies to a lot of the Nasuverse, though not as strongly, but that might just be me, because half of the enjoyment I get out of Nasu's stuff is the fun, whacky mechanics of his supernatural elements.

As for Melty, I've yet to spoil that. I've done Roa's arcade route, and enjoyed most of it even though my grasp on Japanese is pleb tier at best. Luckily, Melty is fully voiced, so I didn't have to actually read, which would have been a chore and a half. I've yet to do most of the other arcade routes though. I'll wait for the TL patch before I do those~

There is a partial TL out, it's pretty good, hence me mentioning its hard to focus on now

The partial patch is just win quotes, the menus, and move lists. No arcade routes yet.

Mahoyo is the first part of a trilogy, so it's not that bad if you really want to know how crazy magic can get in the Nasuverse. It's not like THAT much happens in it.

Still, if you managed to get this far without spoiling yourself, keep it up.

It's got, uh, plenty of snark in it, indeed!
    Ah, now I'm just terrible

Yeah Five, that one just fell flat.
