Hate All the Things

Well, okay, not all of them. But a few things come to mind with such irritation that I really feel the need to just briefly rant about them.

1) Figuring out proper endings for story segments. Ways to make it not just drift off and kinda fizzle out by the end. Normally not an issue, but it's been giving me problems lately for pure character interaction pieces. It falls in the issue that, really, most conversations between actual people are inane and not interesting to look in on even if you have insight into the inner workings of their brains. Too much realism, maybe?

2) Blizzard is a pain in my ass. Starcraft II needing you to link up to Battle.net and making you update before being able to play the game properly feels so... it's like the geek equivalent of sexual harassment, almost. Someone just getting up into your space and making you feel uncomfortable and there's nothing you can do about it without leaving and missing out on something you otherwise enjoy doing.

3) This is what 'normal' writers feel like, I suppose? Not being able to settle in and focus on writing at a reliable pace even when you have nothing but free time? Or maybe it's just that the complexity of all the stuff I've already started has me balking at adding more to it, afraid that I'll mess something up...? Gah. I'll figure this one out.

    1) ... I usually have the most trouble thinking up middles. Beginnings and endings usually come very quickly to me, but connecting them is a bitch.

    2) I said the same thing about Diablo 3, dude. The future of gaming is inconvenience.

    3) ONE OF US. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.

    3. There should be a club devoted to this. That feel, man, that feel. Can't recommend or advise you on that, though, since I have the same issue.

    2. Your solution is going back to starcraft 1, just as good a game (maybe even more) for a lot less money, the only bad thing is the graphics are old.

That kind of bullshit needs to stop, I'm always puzzled by PC developers and publishers coming up with this kind of shit, I agree that piracy undercuts them a lot and I feel bad for them but that is not a solution, that just alienates people more. And the worst part? this type of Blizzard DRM is one of the kindest approaches to this problem, there are a lot worse DRMs out there right now as we speak, take Assassins Creed as an example. If you're not online ALL THE TIME with that game you simply can't play it because there's no offline mode. Internet connection went down because the ISP is being lazy while you're playing? you get immediately kicked out to the title screen without saving your progress. What. The. Fuck.
