Not necessarily "everyone", but that is another thing entirely.

I have good days and bad days, so far - sometimes within the same day. I will be ecstatic when this whole surgery recovery is over.

The major problem is boredom. So far, I've been through 3 TV seasons, 8 graphic novels, 12 movies, and 80 books, on top of regular TV viewing - I may actually have to ask the library to start dropping things off, at the rate I'm going.

Well, if you have constant access to the internet then just visit baka-tsuki and read some Japanese stuff. Maybe you'll be able to use that in some of your stories later (to increase variety, not that your stories aren't good enough now; the point is that many stories there are written in a way that makes it easy to accommodate a few inserted characters if you know what you are doing, meaning that you might just get something out of them).

Alternatively, just find some long series you haven't read and get through it. Dune is good, the Witcher saga too, Tales of Earthsea are also interesting. Other than that I'll have to check my personal library (as I'm writing that in-between running errands and thus can't do that now), but for as long as you get a few such things you might be able to keep your reading combo going.
