I create a world of finite somethings

Long story short

There was an accident last Friday with a small convoy of foreign students we took up to Seattle, bad weather (which sounds stupid considering what happened to the East Coast, but still), and a couple of kids ended up in the hospital. Police had questions and have been talking to the students involved because some of them were not wearing seat belts, but as a lot of them struggle with English, there's been some communications problems.

Anyway, busy weekend and week. Plus the Consulate General for Japan came to campus today and we had a long discussion about Senkaku Island, and one of the teachers here has been pushing for me to get talking to him about some of the stuff I've been bouncing around as ideas on nonfiction books regarding Japanese culture and all, so I was obliged to go. I am really tired now. Thankfully, my classes are goofing off and doing movies Monday and Tuesday, so barring some more drama, I'll actually have time to get onto my main computer and post stuff.

Hope people that were in Sandy's path are okay.

That sounds rough. At least classes are easing up now, though.

Isn't Senkaku what Japan calls them?

Since they're currently controlled by Japan, it makes sense for them to use the Japanese name, particularly since they're talking to Japanese people....

Also, it's actually what America calls them. I'm not gonna get into who has sovereignty over what, but I am 'MURICAN so I'll go with "the Senkakus" as Clinton put it.
