My attempt foray into stand-up comedy!

Looking for a job and getting some money can be a such a tedious affair, but one has to do what one must. So I found this announcement on Facebook by a local cinema bar that talked about a comedy night event that shall basically be a tryout in order to hire local comedians and so it's about telling jokes, doing some stand-up and what have you and so I decided to try and take a shot at this, since I used to tell a lot of jokes during middle and high school.

I'm looking to do a stand-up routine of some kind and I have a few topics in hand, as well as taking a stab on telling jokes and I'm looking for a bit of help when it comes to such things. Has anyone tried this before? You ever wanted to tickle some people's funny bone by telling a good joke? Well, any advice is appreciated!

    In that case, I recommend you giving BL your 'script' for the night so we can critique it, if such a thing exists, unless you're looking to improvise the entire thing.

    Also, you might want to investigate a bit. Check out what types usually frequent the place and tailor your jokes to fit it. It would be a shame to lose you if you decide to joke about the Bible in a place full of Fundamentalists.

    ... A script is possible, but I warn ya, most of the stuff I'll come up with are mostly on my country so some of that stuff will sail above your heads unless I include a comparison or note about the recent 2012 Elections which have just passed not too long ago.

    I may even try for some self-depreciation jokes to set things up. I'll try to give the scrip around this weekend or next week. They'll be making a meeting on Wednesday so that they'll set things up and the event in question shall be on December 8. I'll have some time to prepare for my little adventure.
