Everything seems workable so far, so these are my current assumptions.

Incidentally, "Skyfall" is arguably the greatest Bond film ever made - certainly within the top ten. While I (unlike many, apparently) had no problem with, and enjoyed, "Quantum of Solace," I wholeheartedly agree that this is a superior sequel.

Too bad Craig will always remain the worst Bond ever.

Oh well, it's not like we are watching it for the actor anyway. When I watch Bond movies, I only do it for explosions and the general silliness that is their depiction of secret agents' work.

Actually, he's apparently closest in portrayal to the actual James Bond - the one from Fleming's books. And I've never had a problem with Craig, myself.

I tend to put Roger Moore in that category, actually - at the very least, he stayed in the role for far too long. Of course, I rather liked Lazenby's film as a whole (since it has Diana Rigg, natch), so I may be being sentimental.

Well, yeah, he is kind of closer than the rest of the actors. Still, not many people have actually read the books (I only read five of his books and three of post-Fleming books, all that courtesy of a friend of mine who consistently gifted them to me because it was the only series of books in English he knew about that he could easily find there [with English not being the national language here and stuff], and he knew I like both reading and the whole "Bond" thing), so most people think that Bond shouldn't be "template-like" and ought to have a more defined character with more of his mannerisms, which are actually something that mostly appeared post-Fleming.

But, as I said, Bond movies are best watched for explosions and the general silliness. For the plot itself it's better to get the books, or go even further and get the "Bourne" series (books, that is - movies are kind of "meh" when it comes to that series).

The thing is though, nobody cares about the books, and I don't mean that as any kind of insult to Fleming's work or the people who read it, but the cultural icon James Bond is shaped through the movies which deviated from the book plots more often than they actually stuck to them.

    (So basically fuck the books)

I'll have to disagree here. Other than Connery's Bond, he's the most believable of the Bonds. Daniel Craig looks - and acts - like someone who is a little crazy and who would have no qualms killing a room of people if he had to. Stuff that a spy like him would be like considering what being a 00 agent entails. Moore was laughable, I remember little of Lazenby, Dalton had a bit of an edge to him but his movies were bad, and Pierce Brosnan was way too nice to have a "License to Kill".

Also, "Skyfall" was not just a good Bond movie, it was a good movie all around. Best Bond movie in a very long time.
