Our basement flooded this week, which cost $7000 to fix, so no X-Mas for me.
Sorry to hear it - winter's awful for flooding, I know. I hope nothing was terribly damaged.

Well, some people are dying from thirst because of droughts... At least you have water, be it in excess. The silver lining, I guess..
It's not the basement, it's the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
