I'm not sure I've ever known those to be used for their intended purpose, in any school that anyone I know has gone to. Best case, the students use it to do homework instead of doing that at home.

And I think that's the reason my country doesn't have these self-study periods. No one ever studies anything in them, so might as well fill these with classes, to be more productive.

I still don't think it's two weeks in the summer of 2011 right now, last time I checked.

SOOOOO different than my experience.

The local high school I spent a week at (among other things I did in the area) was a top sports school, with high national rankings in their judo and soccer clubs. Which is to say that the students there were all total meatheads. More importantly, not a single hot girl to be found, only butch manly judo champions.

The middle school was a different story but I feel kinda wrong talking about it like that so let me stop here.

I support the Oda and Yano ship. :3
