• Case: $40 is very, very cheap for a case. It looks like it allows you to do some cable routing, but I can't be sure. That said, the case I'd generally recommend would be about $150, but a compromise could be gotten for about a C-Note.
• Motherboard: Awesome and I'd recommend that.
• Cooler: Should be fine for the most part. You could go bigger but if you don't plan to overclock bigger isn't really necessary.
• CPU: Good, though if you plan to do a lot of movie encoding or 3D Modeling stuff, a 3770K might suit you better (due to hyperthreading). That said, you also may want to hold off slightly as Intel's new Haswell-based CPUs come out in June - this would require you to pick out a new motherboard and possibly a new cooler, though. (Rumors say the spacing is the same, but till stuff is released, nothing is for certain).
• RAM: Plenty. Even 8 GB would be fine for most. Timings are kind of iffy though - see if you can find a set of 9-9-9-24/27 perhaps.
• SSD: Not too bad, though I'd probably say Samsung's 840 Pro or the OCZ Vector would be a better go-to. May cost slightly more though. Keep in mind that smaller SSDs have less IOPS/performance due to the way SSDs work - I'd try to get a 256 GB version if you can.
• HD: Fine, though 1 TB fills up faster than you think.
• PSU: Probably overkill unless you do plan to do SLI.
• GPUs: Tough call. Those cards are limited to about 1.25 GB of VRAM, and obviously two cards is twice the power. Two of those would run you about $450... which is about how much a single GTX 680 would cost. That is a single card, but obviously, since it's only one, it uses less power, puts out less heat, and it would perform about as good as the SLI'd 570s, while having 2 GB of VRAM and not running at full clockrate all the time (in other words, if the game needs less than max performance, the GF600s will not ramp up to full power so that it saves on power, heat, etc). Personally, I'd go for the 680. After all, down the line, you could always add another if you really felt the need, whereas quad 570s is a much chancier proposition (and impossible on your motherboard).

Laptop is under 500 gbs, only half of it is used.

Whatever is leftover I plan to buy for any other things I might need to make my tower work and cords.

Thanks for the rec's darples, I don't plan to be a big spenders these few months so I'll see about holding off about the cpu and then I'll replan it.

I don't plan to overclock, if I do, I'll get a bigger cooler.

That's actually a good idea about the gpu and I'll see what I can do.

Every comment on SSDs I have ever read comments that OCZ is terrible.

I have an AMD on another computer of mine.

That thing is shit, I bought it straight from them. Only 1.5 years ago.

Whenever I tried a new game, I had the problem described.

Maybe you live in some Bizzaro World where AMD actually puts out timely driver updates for new games that come out.

As for the rest of us who don't live there, if AMD didn't help fund it (i.e; plaster its "Gaming Evolved" sticker on the box and in the splashes), expect it to run like crap for a month or two till they kick out a driver update. This is unlike nVidia, who releases a driver update just before a hot new game comes out.

• Case: For that price, I might as well toss my recommendation here since it's roughly the same price. 200mm fans up top plus front blowing air in = lots of airflow without jet engine whine.
• RAM: No. Here's a 16 GB kit for about $80 that has 9-9-9-24 timings. There's also a 4x4 = 16 GB kit if you like to fill all your RAM slots (really, even 16 GB is arguably overkill, and I don't think you can go higher than 16 GB on Win7 Home anyway) but it costs a bit more - but of course, upside is that if one stick dies, you're only out 4 GB as opposed to 8 GB. You can, of course, get lower timings - in fact, here's the sticks in my current one, with 7-8-8-24 timings - but obviously it's up to you whether a few quicker clockcycles is worth the $60 premium.

Just get a gaming laptop, then you don't have to argue about whether price point or driver support is more important, because both companies are equally terrible at supporting their mobile lines!

I know. But as an owner of many, many geforce and radeon mobile cards of the years I was just voicing my envy toward people that can bicker about something as foreign to me as "good driver support".

And I hope you aren't planning to order everything from amazon, building a computer is all about trawling the Internet for months trying to pounce on random sales!

I don't know about those new CPU's though, I like the motherboard I decided on.
