So... I just started playing The Last Of Us.

And my first impression so far is... Fucking hell is this game grim, I just started the game and have only gotten past the 1 hour mark but I can already tell I will not have fun playing this game.
Don't misunderstand, This game is certainly one of the best looking things I've ever seen displayed of my TV and then some, the mechanics for some reason remind me of a resident evil game. No, not these recent "action survival" resident evil games we have been getting lately, more like the old-school-actual-survival-horror resident evil, I don't say this in a bad way, what I mean is that most of the time you're scavenging whatever you can find. For example, you find an ammo box and that box has 2 bullets on it, but here's the thing, you're fucking happy you found those bullets. You end up going like "Yes! I can reload again!" it's due to this lack of resources that you take every encounter you have with any enemy fucking seriously, otherwise you end up having to run away from 4 dudes chasing you to hide so you can heal up and you only have those 2 bullets I mentioned, you know that you're screwed.
Which is why the game has a big emphasis on stealth, there's scenarios in this game where you will not move forward unless you sneak past some dudes and/or infected, this also comes with the ability for you to "see" by focusing on the sound your enemies make, allowing you to either ignore them once you know their routes or get behind them for a quick chokehold knockout.
Another thing I've noticed is that I've yet to see something repeat itself, we all know that sometimes in order to save money and time a Dev making a game will just copy-paste a tree, or a bookshelf, etc. and just hope we don't notice. Sometimes we do and sometimes we don't but I've yet to see anything in-game looking like something I've already seen, everything looks unique and special, like someone in the art department made this shelf with 3 books on it for this room only, and this will be the only place where you will see this shelf with 3 books looking like they're about to fall to the ground, granted, I've only scratched the surface of this game but it manages to keep this up it's gonna be a great technical achievement on their part.
It's my recommendation that if you have a PS3 get your hands on this game and play now, I can already tell this will be quite an experience, no story spoilers except for one, and people who played the game know what the hell I'm talking about.
Why Naughty Dog, why? ;_;
