Hangyaku no Monogatari Review - spoilers (ish)

So I watched Madoka The Rebellion Story. My short review is this: I have shit enough bricks to build myself a bomb shelter. I will then hide in said bomb shelter until the whole thing blows over. I don't care if it stinks - I have only myself to trust at this point and I will rely much more on my shit bricks than on anything else.

Long review: The only spoiler I received about the whole thing is that this is supposed to be a sequel to Madoka. Which means that Madoka and Sayaka are supposed to be dead, and that thing that ate Mami's head shouldn't be around. But they seem to have it as a team pet which eats the new enemy, "Nightmares".

Fun thing to do: remember my last blog post? The entire movie makes just about as much sense as if you really do replace the characters like the last one.

I'm not even kidding here. Sayaka even has an analogous "agent of the Law of the Cycles" to act as a counterpart to being the Counter Force. To write about it in a roundabout manner so as not to truly spoil the whole thing, here you go:

Tohno Shiki, being the only one to remember the past cycles that Ryougi Shiki went through, goes through Kagetsu Tohya again to find a way out of this dreamworld, which isn't perpetuated by Len, but by *gasp* himself. Turns out that Neco-Arc sealed him away so that Ryougi can't get at him and if Ryougi did try to get at him, the Neco-Arcs can finally study the phenomenon of her Third Personality. (Yes I am aware that I am defiling your canon like a one-dollar whore on crack.)

Giving in to despair, Tohno Shiki breaks down as lines appear all over the city. The city starts breaking down and then the rest of the gang show up - Counter Guardian EMIYA with Saber in tow, Arcueid, and a Ryougi Shiki that turns out to have full control of the Void. They utterly beat the crap out of Tohno and return to reality. (You know I'm not forcing you to read this.)

So now as Tohno lays dying, Ryougi also goes into reality and tries to save him and bring him into the void, whereupon he apparently dot-stabs God and rewrites reality according to his whim to one where absolutely everyone is happy and nobody even remembers suffering. But you can't keep God down forever, and Ryougi starts remembering everything that happened beforehand. Tohno, realizing that eventually his hold over reality will vanish, becomes cryptic and does the equivalent of giving her knife back (imagine that she gave him the knife at the end of the anime, because she didn't need it anymore).

This review misses out on a lot of nuances but the parts I really enjoyed watching the most are where Archer and Saber bond and are tsundere towards each other.

So I'm reading this after recovering from five fruitcakes, and posting it anyway. Turns out I have really weak alcohol tolerance. Merry Christmas to All!
