I have returned from Iceland in an attempt to get cooler. It was very cold and they eat a lot of canned food there.

Something that I forgot to mention last week. Blood Arthur's warping of the sword, and then the beam of hatred is reminiscent of Enhance's sword Avenger. If you read the description of that, it talks about how Avenger warps into an ugly blade and shoots malice. Thought that was really interesting considering they're both Demonic Swords.

Anyway this week is Atlanta. Lion eared bow-woman.

The first of Atlanta's unique skills. They're ranked for some reason. Either way this one introduces a new concept not seen in Servant profiles yet and that is skills that affect the "field." This really makes me think of a chessboard, because how everyone seems to talk about Servants as pieces. This skill is also reminiscent of a Knight's movement, how it can jump over opponents. Anyway that's just my opinion.

Allows enemy to take the initiative and after confirming the action she can anticipate him.

I feel like this is instinct done right. It's a good skill because it has it's weaknesses. That is if it's one hit KO like Gae Bolg, it's useless and unavoidable considering it's her style of fighting.

In the next turn arrows will rain on all enemies as if a downpour. Range can be set.

So, this Noble Phantasm is really interesting. First I wish there was an English word for an arrow that has a letter tied to it. I mean it was a pretty normal way of communication in the olden days. At least that's what television has me believing. Anyway it has the same range and max targets as Via Expugnatio. Thought that was interesting. It's called Phoebus Catastrophe but where's the Artemis in that name? I guess it's a reference to Apollo and his role as a god destruction in the Illiad.
Either way if this arrow is asking for divine protection and Apollo and Artemis's are the one's replying, does this mean that Apollo and Artemis are alive or at least are like Amaterasu?
Also in CMIV this Noble Phantasm is sent to either Apollo or Artemis and in return males or females are attacked. I think they dropped that in this since it's too complicated. Arrow rain is just an arrow rain.
Finally the range being set. I don't think it can be set greater than 50 but like condensed like in Vol 2.

Either way that's it for this week.

    He never went to Iceland, it's just a reference to a joke from his last blog where we decided his sense of "cool" is broken.

    Also it's Atalanta, Atlanta is a city in Georgia.

    Actually, I might have liked more the gender-sensitive version of the NP. But this works too especially since there is no real connection between Atalanta and Niobe).

    Was it just Niobe's legend that had the gender specific slaughter by Apollo and Artemis?

    If not, You is raising some interesting questions about Divine Spirits. Aren't they supposed in current Type Moon times to be summoned through a human as a conduit for divination?

    Pretty much. I can't think of any other instances.

    You're thinking of Heroic Spirits in general I think, "lending power to latter peoples." Divine Spirits are tied to the world, not people, and are more like Arc or those faeries that ganked Kurogiri's memories.

    The only crystallization I can think of is that if you shoot a complaint attached to the Bow of Heaven in the air a rain of arrows will come down.
    But the NP says it's Artemis and Apollo's divine protection. So don't they have to be doing something? Unless they have a pre-set-up system where if anyone does that feat arrows just come down from the sky since they're either "retired in the past," or beyond the time axis.
    Because this arrow rain feat isn't Atalanta's feat, it's Apollo's and Artemis's.
    So then would it be that the Complaint Arrow is a feat that activates another feat?
    Either way it's all very interesting and confusing at the same time.

Whether or not this is true, whether or not A&A are still around to actively help Atalanta, that's what is listed on the NP, and is carried on.
