Playing SMITE in Asia....

Rate this Entry
...is a deed done in futility.

Unless you are super rich and have like an internet connection with 25mbps speed, you are playing SMITE simply to lose. (25mbps is pricey here in my country. Sue me)

I seriously have no idea why the company has seemingly seen fit to ignore Asia, a continent ripe with HUNDRED THOUSANDS of MOBA players, OBSESSIVE MOBA players even, and not have already set up a server so that Asian players can actually play this game and actually give them more publicity than they do over in the West. To wit, they've gotten more 2.6 million dollar in donations for their world tournament which directly came from their community, but DOTA 2 got 10 million dollars as a donation from their community, most of which came from Asia.

I just, I dunno. I like this game because it's different from other MOBA's I've played. But I can't play it because of the 5fps 300-900 ping I keep getting. Really saddens me. Might quit it for a while and wait till they get an ASEAN server, but it's been three years since it launched. 2 years maybe, if you don't count it's beta stage. Why has it taken this long to get a server in the ASEAN.

    Ouch... that is not fun.

Personally, I hope you guys in Asia get that server, so that you can play more.

I used to play smite. I played for a week, and then I learned I suck at MOBAs.

Setting up Asian server isn't free.

Smite needs to do better in Europe, heck even in America before Hi-Rez are going to consider expanding into Asia, which is already completely saturated by their rivals anyways.

Basically, the investment would be a huge risk.

From what I've heard they've already given the rights to set up a server in Asia to Tenecent. Ever since the beta even.

It's a wonder why it's taken this long to finish the server. I mean they set up one in Australia.

Also, haven't they already done 2 championships? With millions in cash prizes as the award?

I thought that was a sign of success. I guess I was wrong.

@I3uster: Kinda true. Even their community agrees.

    Prize pool =/= success.

I think the Smite stream hit like 80k viewers at max? Bjergsen can get that many viewers just streaming normally.

Compare this to League where the S4WC Grand Final hit like several million concurrent viewers.

Ah one could only wait. OTL

Though SEA server for this country would still give me constant 200 ping. OTL

Oh, man that's a shame I guess. Well they are only like, 3 years old, so here's hoping they get some steam with the start of season 2.
