Romance and Little Deaths!

Sooooooo . . .

I hate to admit this, but I should really write a romance novel. It's something I'm obviously good at.

Just the killer is that I have really no idea for a romance novel or series. Well, I sort of do, but . . . Yeah.

On a side note I'm going to try my hand at writing a Sword and Sorcery fic. The anthology is paying $50.00 per story. Not pennies per word, but actually $50.00 for the whole damned story.

And they state that "R" ratings are of the good. Because you know any Fantasy fic I do is going to be more "Berserk" than "Lord of the Rings". Just the kicker is there has to be some mystical artifact/weapon that plays a big part in the story. That smacks a bit deux ex machina to me, but hey, they're paying.

    You could always make it a plot macguffin. After all, that's what the Holy Grail is in F/SN.

    I tried to write fantasy once. Totally failed, and laughed at myself. Now I just keep a little corner of my Writing folder dedicated to "fictional history genre" works. It's like fantasy, but without magic and stuff, but it's not history 'cause it's not on Earth or anything.

    Eh, I mostly stick to science fiction. I swear, I can manage to put sci-fi into anything.

    Good luck on the writing project, though! Money certainly is good.

    Take a page from the Hervarar Saga's book and give the protagonist a cursed sword that drives him insane!

    For a romance novel? Are there limits on the constraints? How about a historical romance in which a world-weary huntsman finds himself falling for the older brother of his childhood friend. Delicious gay historical romance! DELICIOUS!

    Certainly it's under 10. I'd peg 7 as the most for any of the main characters?
