About a half hour ago I was speaking with my homeroom teacher, at a Starbucks. We went over my grades and talked about the strengths and weaknesses I have for my classes. Finally he asked what I want to do after high school. I said my mother wanted me to go to junior college but my teacher reminded me he asked specifically what do I want to do. I answered with, "I want to become an interpreter."
Then he told me that I could major in linguistics and work as an interpreter in hospitals and court houses. He then went on about the amount of things I could do and study. He knew everything I could do because he was a Spanish teacher and had a degree in linguistics.
Near the end of our meeting, he told me he was once in the exact same situation as me and that he was finally sure of what he wanted to be when an "idiot friend" of his told him, "You want to be like your Spanish teacher right?", he told him yeah and went on about his college days.
In his college days, he was slacking and barely had time to go to class one year because he managed too many clubs. He had to retake Spanish three times because of his problems.
He then told me about several books I could get and we went our separate ways.
It was really fun talking with him.
