How unusual

Yet Another Sakura Post (a.k.a. can this guy just give it a rest already?)

Wow. Now that was an ordeal.

It took me over a month to finish Heaven's Feel, and it really did nothing good for how I feel about the writing abilities of Nasu and the Type-MOON staff.

Actually, it's more likely that the translators were complete dimwits, and someone should be looking up TwilightsCall with a job offer because he'd do a better job (if his Case Files translation is any indication).

Either way, that's just my opinion as a Type-Lunatic. I should really get to the point though.
I think I understand Sakura a little better. But not by enough. I would still need someone to read over my work and tell me what needs to be altered.

The fact of the matter is that while Sakura's adorable, I find her the least interesting, not out of any fault of her own, God knows that in two years after the movies are dubbed, and Christina Vee is voicing her I'll be cheering her on even as she butchers the townsfolk. And if she isn't voiced by Christina Vee, I will be FURIOUS!
As for why I hate Heaven's Feel, it is for one simple reason: Saber Alter is too much for my heart to take

I've posted this before, but it should have it's own blog so it's been transplanted and edited accordingly.

I love all three primary heroines (+Illya) all in different ways. I pretty much worship Rin, and will always pair Shorou with her, but no one drums up affection like Saber. I adore her, and seeing her turned into that…thing… just kills me. In fact, despite pairing Shirou with Rin, I almost certainly love Saber more, and just find it difficult to see her as more than a knight, albeit the greatest knight of all.

And Sakura, well, she's something of a special case: Though I like her a lot, I don't like her on the same scale as Rin and Saber. However (and it's a BIG however), she deserves a huge amount of respect for having so many admirable qualities. The sheer psychological fortitude she displays is far beyond anything of which any of the other characters are capable. She reconstructs a personality that should have been shattered beyond any hope of repair, for a single person; learns how to smile again, and keeps on doing it no matter how much she suffers. It's made pretty clear in one of those bad endings that Rin could not withstand what Sakura was put through. She wasn't capable of enduring the worm pit for very long at all. Though to be fair, Sakura screamed for a whole three days when she was first put in there.

Despite all the good Sakura does, she finds herself repulsive, which isn't fair to her at all, and sympathy only hurts her even more because she thinks she needs to be punished because of what she is. Whether she's insane or not, I still don't know, I haven't gotten the the part where she Shadows Shinji's head open, but she's still impressing me at every turn.

I mean, even after seeing her nightmarish (and nightmare) interludes, and even knowing that she was going to bisect Shinji's brain and then turn into Angra Mainyu's vessel, she still had me rooting for her. Mostly. And considering that I was really just trying to get through the route as fast as possible so that I did't have to keep seeing the monster that Saber turned into, that probably means a lot. So I feel that anything short of the deepest respect for this adorable, though broken heroine, would be nothing less than a gross sleight against her.

At this point, I still feel that I need scenes showing Tohsaka beating herself up over falling in love and leaving the country with Shirou after having initially saved his life for Sakura's sake [(I didn't get the impression she saved him that first time for any other reason) though not too much, she doesn't tend to dwell on things, despite her knack for holding a grudge]. Their fighting over him is going to be kind of backwards in that Rin is not at all prepared to hand him over to anyone, yet still saying that Sakura deserves him more than her (I'm in the middle of writing her discovery of the worm pit right now. Based on the scene in Heaven's Feel, of course. Elsewhere, Zouken is watching, and he is laughing at her.) Meanwhile, Sakura can't help feeling incredibly jealous of everything that her sister has, (mainly Shirou and no worms or constant torture), but as per her mentality of total self-loathing, she also feels that she'd just ruin everything good about Shirou by getting too close. Thus, Rin seems like a good fit for him, but that just makes her feel worse.

That is why I read Heaven's Feel despite not wanting anything to do with it. If Sakura is to play a part in my story, I cannot afford to make mistakes, because that would be like holding her in contempt for enduring eleven years of almost constant torture. Though I do not love her in nearly the same capacity that I love Rin and Saber, she must be perfectly represented, and given ample opportunities to be happy. For instance, the scene in which she kills Zouken's servant is already written. Yeah, you wouldn't expect that to be possible, but it's very well thought out, and the HF route confirmed that it would work. In fact it was confirmed over and over again. I just needed a character appropriate Noble Phantasm that would incapacitate everyone but Sakura. And I'm not giving away any more spoilers to a scene that I like so much.

That's very insightful of you @keo, I would never have realized that without your invaluable—ppphhfftt! Nope couldn't keep a straight face. In any case, if I don't keep her in check until someone else absorbs a few heroic spirits or until someone gets the Grail worms out of her, she'll get corrupted by the goddamn Black Grail, bring about the coming of the Shadow, and completely derail my story, which will not happen.

In answer to You's (Your?) question, it's not red, it's orange. ;P

Seriously though, it's orange because it matches my fiery new scales, as you can see by my avatar. I also have a stylish new hat.
